YEA, that is true -- i grew up there and the Resivore would be a pretty good place, but getting others to come up father north than LA would probably be an issue ---the Houston Guys like to stay as close to home as possible.

I have a call into the Manager and im waiting on her to call me back. The hotel is EMPTY!! Very few occupants.

I bet its just a formality of them not being able to offer reservations by law.

I'll post back when i hear from her.

I just spoke to the hotel. They must keep rooms open and available to evacuees and service personnel.

Unfortunately the Mudbug October event must be canceled.

The Mudbug June 06 event is still on, we just need to set a date.

Sorry to read this. But, it is the right thing to do with everything that has happened lately. Hopefully everyone understands.

Those of you that planned to attend and put aside money just for the event might want to consider donating that money to the hurricane relief funds. Not trying to pressure anyone. Just a thought seeing as the money would have been spent anyway...

I think its best as well. The turn out would not be near as great as the event this past June.

We need to put our heads together and set a date sometime in June 06. Lets make the 06 event better than the last.

Looking forward to riding with all you guys again.

Jerry

I would agree cancelling the event is the right thing to do, but I am disappointed because there was a Canadian contingent that was planning to make the trip.

I guess now I have 9 more months till the next Mudbug to sort my Project ski out. (I think I finally fixed the last water leak - GRRRRR)

Maybe I'm missing something. What on earth does a jetski event have to do with hurricane evacuees? I can understand not wanting to take up hotel space for those who really need it, but Jerry said that's not an issue. So, is it the "right" thing to do out of respect? Guilt? What? Life goes on for those who are fortunate enough not to have been affected by the storm.

If the hotel cancels our reservations, let's hold the event in Jackson, or Texas, or somewhere else. Take a poll to see who can't make it. I don't know of anyone cancelling because of the storm, do you guys? Some of us have been working really hard to get our skis in shape for MB2, and are really looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Not trying to be ornery about this, I guess I just don't get it. What does one have to do with the other?

I was thinking if people needed the hotel space we could do without.

You guys should come to Canada, end of October we have great air.

The manager of the hotel said if that weekend comes and there are rooms available then by all means they would be available to you.

All previous reservations are cancelled as per the Governors orders.

So when that weekend comes and there are rooms available ya'll come on. I will be here waiting to ride with you guys.

Jerry, what are we supposed to do? Wait until the day before, call the hotel, and just show up? I don't think anyone is going to feel comfortable doing that. I guess there's no way to make reservations in advance?

The new law as per our Governor says they CANT make reservations until the 1st of the year.

Here are the numbers for our 3 hotels. I just called all of them for the hell of it and they say NO VACANCY's for tonight.
I don't understand it because there are very few cars in their parking lots Confused

Best Western 985-385-9175
Days Inn 985-384-5750
Holiday Inn 985-385-2200

When I called and talked to the Best Western, they said the hotel was completely full. They said occasionally one room will open up when a refugee leaves, but then it immmediately fills up with another. She said chances of actually getting a room in that hotel are slim to none right now.

If y'all do it in Texas somewhere I might be in, but unlikely at this point since I booked a couple of scuba trips.
