Trying to plan a trip to one or the other this summer (leaning more towards Smith Mtn at this point) to take the ski's to.

Looking for places to stay (that accepts pet & wife), and general guidance on lake conditions and things to do & not do.

I have only stated the two above, but anything within 6-8 hours of WV would be acceptable.

Lake Jocasse right at the NC SC border awesome view. You can stay at Devils Fork State Park they have campsite or you can get 1 to 3 br cottages at very reasonable prices It,s also one of the best diving spot in the south east. Been at Lake Norman, Smith Mtn. and Kerr Lake by far Jocasse still is my favorite spot the view in the water is just breathtaking you won't regret it. As far as size it would take you a good day to covered the whole lake 3 tankfull later.

Sorry Riva Crew...I thought this topic fit better under general rather than performance.

also, i live about 45 minutes from lake Jocassee - - its awesome. If you do get bored there, lake Keowee is only a few minutes away, which is huge. Also Hartwell is about 30-45 minutes away as well. The north end of keowee and Jocassee will blow you away.
