What do you use and how do you clean your engine? I thought about using my steam cleaner but didn't know if I would melt some plastic part somewhere. There would be little as far as water to soak up or blow out.

Steam cleaner would be the joint if u ask me, there is no reason why steam would melt anything unless you keep it on there for a very long time. As a cleaner I am particularly fond of Simple Green, it's enviromentaly friendly and boy it shure cleans some stubborn stuff (like exhaust zoot) really well

I like to use the water based engine cleaning foam for autos. Its not nearly as harsh as the other stuff. You can get it at any auto parts store. I use that on my truck once a quarter and then I apply armor all tire foam. It makes everything look new. Just remember, use the foam.

Simple Green is the ticket. We used it exclusively on our race craft. I use it on just about everything I own if it needs a good cleaning!

Be careful though, it will dull painted finishes if left in contact too long at full strength.

BTW - SG is non-toxic too!

I used to use Lime-Away for water-spots......great product.

Sounds like I need to give SG a try.

I listen to what the voices inside my GPR glove box tell me to do.

Even though SG is ton toxic, I think it might fade certain engine parts. I remember yrs ago when I first joined the military, we used to use SG to clean our weapons. Worked great! We would get in trouble if we got caught thogh, because it actually starts to remove the blueing off of the weapons.
Just a thought.

You have to be careful if you use it at 100%. Cutting it with water and not leaving it in contact with treated surfaces for very long will help prevent the fading.

First rinse with water (if using FA's cover with soft plastic). Than spray with Simple Green, let soak a few minutes, then rinse off. Blow dry everything with compressed air (air gun), tilt the ski to drain or use a suction hose.

Then spray everything with silicone . No spots, no rust, just an engine that looks like new!
