WATERTOP UNLIMITED CREATES NEW USE FOR PERSONAL WATERCRAFT WITH FIRST HYDRODRAG EVENT AT COMPANY’S SEBASTIAN PWC RALLY

RIVA Racing to title sponsor HydroDrag National personal watercraft drag race and speed event being produced in conjunction with the Sebastian (Florida) WaterTop PWC Rally.

Melbourne, FL– February 19, 2008 – WaterTop Unlimited® officially announced the creation of a new, organized use of personal watercraft with the launch of the first HydroDrag™ National PWC drag race and speed event.

WaterTop announced its plans during the Miami International Boat Show to expand the WaterTop PWC Rally Series presented by Watercraft World magazine into a full weekend of activities that encompass every aspect of the sport while inventing a new one. Activities will include the RIVA Racing HydroDrag Spring National and Sebastian PWC Rally (area tour, new product demos, reception, and poker run).

“The HydroDrag concept is what we see as the ‘next big thing’ in the world of personal watercraft.” said Tim McKercher, President of WaterTop Unlimited. “We are excited to bring this vision to reality with RIVA Racing and combine it with our popular Rally events. We are also excited to produce a weekend of watercraft activities that cover nearly every aspect of the sport combining the HydroDrags with freeriding at Sebastian Inlet and the Rally. The WaterTop PWC Rally in Sebastian will make history.”

The three day PWC event will take place April 11-13, 2008 in Sebastian, Florida. Captain Hiram’s Resort and Marina will host the event; a venue often pointed out as one the most inviting waterside destinations on Florida’s East Coast. The RIVA Racing HydroDrag event will take place at the Bonneville Salt Flats of waterways, the C-54 canal west of Sebastian. The event will feature a top speed and a 1/8 mile, head-to-head, double elimination drag racing format competition utilizing the WaterTop Launch Pad starting gate system.

The Launch Pad will pit two watercraft in a standing start format where upon the “gate” dropping will send both competitors down their designated lanes with an explosion of water to the entertainment of on-lookers. Competitors’ PWC will be segmented into four classes based on the APBA (American Power Boat Association sanctioning body) rules standards with slight modifications including; Hydro GP (Open, nitrous boosting welcome), Hydro Limited, Hydro Stock, and Hydro Vintage (1997 PWC and earlier under APBA Mod rules).
