Hi,i've got a 2000 model stx1100.It breaks down and sputters when i nail the throttle.When i slowly pull the throttle on,it runs perfect until the tacho reaches around 6800rpm.When it breaks down,the tacho flicks up and down quickly.I've tried a different good electric box.I swapped the oil sender,temp sensor,air temp sensor and tried having them all disconnected.The ski runs the same regardless.I've had the cv carbs checked too.If i ride part throttle under 7000rpm,it runs great,even during full load under turns.

Is your 1100 the DI? I had almost the same exact problem with my STX 1100 DI. It was in the shop more than it was on the water. But, no matter what the guys at the repair shop did, the same problem kept happening. I took it to 4 dealers to get repaired. They replaced many of the things you mentioned. Finally my warranty ran out, and the problem continued. I took it back to the dealer (AGAIN!), and they said that the issue would NOT be covered under the warranty. Well, I had to eventually file a lawsuit to get Kawasaki's attention. I was able to settle out of court.

After we settled, Kawasaki had one of their "top" mechanics look at the jet-ski. It turns out that the throttle position sensor went bad. So, if your ski is the DI, have the TPS checked out.

Bernie: I had the same problem with my Yamaha GP.. Went through everything from the gas tank to the reeds on the intake thinking it was a carb related problem.. From 3/4 throttle down the ski would run fine.. Only at full throttle the ski would start to spudder like it was starving for gas.. If you had the ski awhile you should check the spark plug wires by the boot to the spark plugs.. Mine were fraided and burnt out.. Seems by what I was told that under full throttle if your wires are fraid then the spark cannot make the connection it does under lower RPM's.. Something to check.. Solved my problem..
