Title says it all.

Are they limiting the power on take off to keep the pump from spinning?

I'm not sure to be quite honest. I'm looking into it and will post what I glean.

In the tech doc's Kawasaki sent us there is no mention of any electronic controls to reduce prop slip. However, there is this:
quote:
Jet Pump
  • To effectively convert the Ultra 250X’s 250 PS output into thrust, a new jet pump was designed. The pump features a large 155 mm diameter and uses eight guide vanes in place of the earlier six.
  • Designed based on feedback from Kawasaki’s race program, the new pump delivers superior “traction” and stable output in rough water conditions, and is a significant factor in the Ultra 250X’s mind-boggling acceleration.

My ECU has traction control, but to use it you need a vehicles true speed to compare, such as a front wheel RPM.

a ski has no reference that is accurate to use. soo id say NO Kawasaki has no TC

...With a Bridgeport, Engine Lathe, and a Tig welder. I’ll make it….

You are right Hydro. The GP1300R utilizes a traction control feature that alters fuel/air mixtures. The Y.E.M.S. (Yamaha Engine Management System) system enhances acceleration by reducing prop spin and achieves top end performance by maintaining engine RPM.

    About the same as Riva....

    but with a 300lb rider.
    on a 1200ft lake.
    Extremely repeatable.

    That was only one ride.

I did a writeup on it over at Green Hulk.

Well, it's not traction control. It's a built in lip in the hull, that acts JUST like trim tabs. That is why it is so planted, and plows, and that is why it launches the same every time.
