So far, we don't know, but based on R.C.'s comment in another topic, there's a dealer meeting in mid september. More than likely, we won't know before then. Usually Kawi lags anyway when it comes to announcing their upcoming lineup until really late in the year. I would guess since Kawi is coming out with a supercharged 3 seater in 2006, they probably won't change the SXR. You might see a paint and graphics change, but that's probably it. It's been a trend over the years that most PWC manufacturers do not change/update more than 1 model each year. Personally that annoy's me because sometimes they need to change/update more than 1 model a year. The main reason probably has to do with R&D, manufacturing, and marketing costs that go into each model produced for one year.
Anyway, the SXR is a sweet ski. If you really want one now, you might as well buy it. If you can wait a year or 2 then you might see a new and improved Kawi Standup (hopefully 4 stroke or a super-clean 2 stroke) 2003 SXR-Modified |

The "2006" SXR will be 100% identical to the 2005 with yellow graphics and pole.
Kawasaki is getting away with EPA 2006 by producing the yellow SXRs before january 1st and sell them in 2006. Everything 100%!!! |

Yellow would be worth waiting for! It would match my GPR.

Cool, "11" with the insider information. You gotta love it!
"11's" comment about Kawi getting away with producing the ski before 2006 brought up a question; How is Kawi getting away with selling/producing the ski when we know it does not pass the current emissions standard? I found out how they are actually doing it and it's not too sneaky. Basically the manufacturers have "engine families" (i.e. 1200 4 stroke, 1500 4 stroke, 800 2 stroke, etc). Each one of those families has to pass a certain emissions standard. In CA, as of 2004, all watercraft have to pass a 2 star low emissions standard. The EPA's 2006 standard is the same as the CA 2004 standard (I think). Anyway, if a certain engine family exceeds/beats the current standard, then the manufacturer is given a credit by the EPA (or whoever controls the state level air standards). Since Kawi has 2 engine families that exceed the current standard(12F & 15F at 3 star emissions level(In 2003 they only had the 12F)), they can use the "credit" towards something else. For example, in 2003, the CA Air Resources board allowed Approx 112 SXR's to be sold in CA even though the engine family did not pass the emissions standard at that time. I know different states have different regulations when it comes to emissions standards, but the EPA standard is the bottom line (other states can exceed the EPA though, i.e. CA). Anyway, it's pretty interesting how that stuff works. I found the Info on the EPA website and the California Air Resources Board Website. The PDF was about 120 pages. I didn't read it all though. It also talked about a bunch of other stuff as well and A LOT of detail along with that stuff. 2003 SXR-Modified |

Prob being sold as 2005's or just a lawful loophole to clear 2006's MADE IN 2005, that I'm sure your Kalifornia Political Monkeys will spend millions on to eliminate for future generations.
