Was wondering if there is or will be a windows based software available with the purchase of the SC or offshore kit for the 15F ECU? Reason i ask is because say one would want to change the Hp ratiing on there craft from what the ECU is set at?
Would i be correct to assume that that the ECU is set a little on the rich side to cover a varity of different locations, since the kits are sold world wide? Thanks in advance, A.J |

hummmm not good. Throws a little curve ball in my plan.
So if one was to purchased the Offshore kit, and then decides to purchased the SC, another ECU would have to be purchased I was hoping that this high dollar item would at least come with with the ability to tune. Would you happen to know if Macc is using this same ECU or they using a total stand alone like a Motec. In one of his pictures i noticed there is a laptop connected to the ski getting some fine tuning. |

Ya talk to Meada over there. Hes hard to understand but will give you some good info. He is still kinda hush hush about what hes working on but they do have the programmable units. I know your pain, I too want that unit but been warnned of the 4k price tag.
Are you going with the full SC kit? |

Yes thinking about full sc, however just trying to find the best options. Also curious to what KAWI has in mind for there 2006 lineup. Would hate to spemd 10k on a SC kit and 3 months later kawi comes out with a ligher SC ski for 10k
I am located in Louisiana but would love to come and check yours out whenever you receive yours. Thnaks, A.J |

efreak,
Sorry I didn't answer your first post earlier. I was waiting for some info from Kawi and we're having problems with our Internet connection. The ECU's supplied with our Offshore and Supercharger Kits are not programmable. They're sent to us directly from Japan locked. That's the only way they [Kawasaki] would work with us on this project. The ECU will compensate for minor changes such as temperature or boost increase/decrease. But, if you want to make drastic changes such as ported heads, different cam timing, etc then you will need to go with an aftermarket ignition like the one MACC Racing is offering. Our intention is to provide a turn-key kit or craft that is both user friendly and competitive. If you're looking for more perforance MACC Racing is selling and installing our kit with additional performance updgrades. RIVA CREW Please post and ride responsibly!!! |

Yeah i know, it sucks.

I should have some info on a programable unit early next week. Both fuel and ignition will be fully adjustable via a laptop. I think it will be able to handle both normally aspirated and SC engines. My racing partner really wants a 15F but with the mods he's looking at we need a programable unit.

Is this going to be custom built for the STX 15-F or is it just going to be a unit that is already available like a Motec, DFI, ETC ? |

You could EASILY use the same engine management system as we use on our cars ( http://www.yearone.com/enthusiast.asp?enl=1&enlSEC=2&en...les/feat1.asp?AID=40 ) on your ski. These systems designed to handle 50+ lbs of boost, vary fuel pressure as boost changes, knock sensors... everything!!! We use F.A.S.T. XFI and ACCEL Gen VI DFI on all our cars. With the Wideband Kit, the system could easily be tuned to perfection, literally... perfect 14.7:1 all across the map. I think it's something definatly worth looking into

Why not post what you know and how it would be applied to a watercraft right here so that others may gain from it?!?!

I recieved the ecu information today and I will pass it on to the forum members as soon as I get back to work. It is expensive but fully adjustable. It will fit all 4 cylinder 4-strokes, turbo, super-charged or normally aspirated. With a little more info it can be supplied with oem connectors for plug and play installation. According to the supplier I was the first to ask about this application. They build ecu for everything cars, boats, bikes etc.

There are many different stand alone engine management systems out there, i am most familiar with F.A.S.T and DFI. In an automobile, the same ECU can be used on anything from a 1.8L Honda to a 8.0L Dodge V-10. You can buy a complete harness with flying leads so that you can cut everything to length for any custom application. The ECU will tie into all sensors(TPS, MAP, IAC, CPS, knock sensor, ECT, etc...) and will even compensate for barometric changes. The Wideband O2 would allow for the perfect 14.7:1 exhaust mixture, then all you would have to do is get the timing map down, and you would pretty much have a perfect tune!!! Intake charge is calculated off of BASE VE(voulumetric efficiency) to determine that amount of air that the engine can consume. That will then determine your target A/F ratio to get you started. There are about 100+ tables that can be adjusted for max performance, but all you need is about 5-6 to get it running real good. Features.... 3 stage Nitrous calibration w/ auto shutdown if too lean, FI duty cycle display & pulse width, Complete ignition control with up to 20 coil packs, open and closed loop correction display, fuel psi, wideband O2 correction, iac display, knock retard, timing, ECT display, DATA LOGGER!!!!, Boost builder(this system can generate 30+lbs of boost in 3/10 of a sec on a turbo set-up), tuning cn handle 50+ lbs of boost, on and on and on... This is a fraction of what one of these systems is capable of, i'm just scratching the surface. I went through the first workshop that ACCEL offered for the Gen VII DFI system and i was taught by Ray Bohacz. If you are willing to drop $10,000 into a SC system, i would consider this a must. It is almost like having a 427ci LS1 and trying to tune it with LS1 Edit,it can be done, it it will be MUCH better with a stand alone fuel management system. For example, on our 66' Mustang, it has a 03' Cobra 4V motor w/ a Kenne Bell and F.A.S.T. XFI... and the motor gladly takes 25+ lbs of boost... we didn't even take the valve covers off... all we did was throw more boost at it and swap in the F.A.S.T.. It consistantly puts down about 600hp to the wheels on 93 octane and it is a great driver. It was on "RIDES" last night on TLC if ya wanna see it run. I can see the same thing being done to these SC skis. Once again, this is just scratching the surface of this whole system... I am not in any way, shape, or form, bashing all the hours of R&D that Riva and Factory Kawi have put into their systems. They have proved themselves time and time again to be the BEST in the business!!! Questions and Comments are Welcome!!! This message has been edited. Last edited by: TJBrad04, |

Been there done that!
my system will work, but gota let you know its a big deal to develop one. 3 yrs ago FAST didn’t even want to help. i searched a lot of EFI stand alone system. i think i got the best. but its not for the simple guy. the Riva plug in is a good option. mine although is programmed for a Honda turbocharged ski, will power a Kaw15F or any ski for that matter. but you need to jump in both feet first to apply it.

Waiting for efreak to post my info, but the system I found was from Motec. Yes it was expensive but at least they are willing to talk!
