Guys took the ski out today battery light was flasing ski started to sputter and then it took of great and ran fine,light was still flashing,pulled up to the beach and hung out for a good time,and tried to go ski would not start just kept cranking,so i killed the batter,got a new/used battery and new plugs and ski still didnt start its getting no spark i found out,any help or info would be wonderful thanks guys

Did you happen to check the voltage when it was running?

If the motor is turning over but is getting no spark, then I would suspect the stator. I had a similar problem with my '98 GP 1200 a few years ago and replacing the stator solved the problem. You and/or your mechanic should be able to confirm this diagnosis with a multi-meter. I'm not familiar with the STX-R (other than riding a friend's) internals, but, if you do have to replace the stator, it shouldn't be too expensive or difficult a procedure. In comparison, I paid about $150 for a stator for the GP and I did the repair myself. If I can do this, anyone can do this. Good luck.
