I hear of people taking out the center bar on teh intake grate. Does any1 reccomend this and Would I see a difference in Top Speed. Any thoughts or basic light mods to pep me up.
P.S. I just bought my 10th PWC and it is my first Kawasaki Waverunner. Shame on Yamaha and everything they built from 2000 to present. Then only thing they ever built reliable adn lived upto the hype was the older GP models. Cant believe that I ahve defended them for this long adn then I get on a Kawi and have the best experience ever. 1999 GP1200 62mph High Octane, Riva Everything, No Tripples 2005 STX-R 62mph 14/20 Solas 1998 GP800 58mph 14/18 Solas R&D Valves |

I agree on the yamaha comment, although I am hoping the newer non-pv motors make us both a liar....

Im glad you agree. I cant believe those words came out of my mouth after time and time again argueing and bashing other poeple that disputed Yamahas reliability. I just havent seen Yamaha come out with anything reliable since the older 760's 1100's adn 1200's non powervalve.
For me to get on my first Kawi, which is a 05 stxr and smoke every1 in site with just a stock setup is crazy. I understand that stxr's are king of holeshot, but to severely beat a GP1300r the way I did was just amazing. I also raced a RXP and again took him out of the hole, however he had me on topend by a crawl. Ofcourse it comes down to rider and water conditions. I am just really impressed with Kawis Stock platform. Can some1 steer me into some light mods. I just ordered a 14/20 Concord as my first upgrade. 1 thing to close with. I still love the older GP Hulls, they rock in the surf for wavejumping. 1999 GP1200 62mph High Octane, Riva Everything, No Tripples 2005 STX-R 62mph 14/20 Solas 1998 GP800 58mph 14/18 Solas R&D Valves |

a moddified grate will help on hook up and maybe .5-1 mph faster than stock. I have tried stock, stock moddified, and worx. I found out that stock mod work best for rec riding. Worx give the best hook up but I lost near 3 mph
BTW I have own 2 stxr when they were in stock form I have never take the hole shot from the RXP, you must have a really good one. |

The Modified stock grate, does that mean taking out the center bar?? So that will give me a little more topend??
I am telling the truth about the RXP race. I beat him out of the hole by about 1 1/2 boat lenghts, and continued on wiining till I maxed out at about 61'ish then he crawled past me. I pulled out the pump today to change the impeller and was AMAZED to see REAL QUALITY, TIME and ENGINEERING that went into this Pump. They seal the pumpshoe from the factory like a PRO. Where the Pump stator bolts up is 100% SEALED. They also use a METAL PUMP CONE. 1 More thing, it also utilizes SEALED BEARINGS. AMAZING!!!! The Yamaha Pump Assembly compared to this looks like an outdated, cheap production, to save costs to be honest. No wonder why these 3 seaters RIP out of the HOLE. yes, cut the center bar and that's it. It should increase some top speed. Some riders claims .5 MPH. I did it with no difference and finished with a modified R&D Intake (I cut the center flapper), and it gains in top.
