Okay, I took the plunge and bought a new '05 STX-15F - the machine looks sweet, can't wait to get it out on the water later this spring! Planning on a trip to Havasu in mid-April with it, and might get it out on the water here at home (Oregon) before then, since I can't hardly stand just leaving the thing sit without riding it.
Had lots of good input from everyone about it before the purchase (thank you all, BTW), but I have one small problem right now that I hoped someone could help me with.....I can't seem to find a cover anywhere for an '05 15F. Kawasaki only lists the covers for the '04 (which are red, not blue), and nobody else seems to have any decent covers that are custom fit. Anyone have any info about when Kawasaki might be coming out with the covers for the '05s, or where I might find a good aftermarket cover? Thanks! |

I just called Kawasaki, and they said that the part number for the blue '05 15F cover was W99995-457. At this point, you have to order through a dealer, though.
Oh, BTW, same price as the '04 cover - $199.99. |

Steven, this last Sunday i saw at close range a 05'15F, what a great looking boat, the boat was put in the water for the first time this same day and only got 1 hour of use when i spoke to the proud owner, he was very impresed with the boat, for a instance i thought that was board member caribbean ultra (Benjie), since he told me that his 05' 15F was the only one coming to our Island this year, but the real story is that his boat is gonna be the second one, no big deal any way, also I was notified that mine is officially the only 04' 15F in our entire Island....

Steven, dont know exactly which part of oregon your from, but fullthrottle dave and myself were out last saturday. Ended up over by the I5 bridge on the columbia. It was a great ride.

So Ray are ya going with the RXT? I have to say with a stock speed of almost 66 it will be hard to beat. Just think a stage 1 will be almost 70! I have been thinking about jumping ship myself.

Phil, this is sooo..true 15F 0-50mph......3.90seconds 0-60mph......6.25seconds peak speed...61.82mph RXT 0-50mph......3.60seconds 0-60mph......5.63seconds peak speed...65.95 Add a Riva stage 1 kit plus a Impros stage 3 stock prop repitched to a 12/19.5 and the Vortech S/C impeller and hold on for your LIFE!!! i got everything figured out already, i only need a couple weeks more to make my dream come true. when you go past us Kawasaki's and have to pull over before 60 miles to fuel up your RXT with 93 Octane , ...........we'll wave goodbye as we pass the Marina and go over 100 miles to a tank of 87 Octane gas.

Todd, You are wrong, i was not going to say this info here BUT because you bring the fuel consuption issue to this board I don't have any other choice to tell this story, this last Sunday my neigbour and me went to a almost a 4 hours long round trip in open ocean waters with a small craft advisory weather conditions, we did the long trip at cruising speed since my neighbour Malvin the owner of the moded RXP was having a lower back pain problem it takes us a little more than 1 hour of riding in rough waters conditions to finally get to our favorite testing spot, a two mile long channel with glass water to do some speed runs with the moded boat, ok, now comes the fun part, beleived or not after we get there the RXP was still with his fuel tank full, (well at least this was what his boat LCD was showing) not to bad for a boat that comes with a S/C 215 hp engine (plus) a aftermarket moded 30 hp stage 1 R/R kit installed, don't you think??? in that place i did two 1/8 mile long full throttle test runs with the RXP and then continue our journey to our final destination (Boqueron) when we get there and for my own surprise there was missing only 1 fuel bar in both boats even that my 15F comes with a normal aspirated 160hp engine and his with a forced induction S/C 215hp engine, p.s. I have a eye witness to back up my claim in case any of you out there have any doubt about this info, board member caribbeanultra (Benjie) was there with his family and rode my 15F and my neighbour moded RXP, ask him if this story is true or false. OH, i almost forget my friend, yes you are right, i would have to use 93 octane fuel for my S/C boat BUT the good part of all this is that if i encounter a slow boat like yours in the water, i will pass by you like a Amtrack train, LIFE IS GOOD!!!! I'm talking about true Mileage capabilities doing good speeds, not wandering through waves on a stormy day at 15 MPH for an hour.
The point I am making is that on a Long River Run or An Ocean trip, the RXT will be gassing up at 55-70 miles tops, while the Kawasaki's will go over 100 miles on their tank fulls of gas. That goes a long way in deciding which ski the Average Rec Rider will buy, and especially if you are in a group that does some major water trips. Marinas don't always sell 93 Octane , so what are you goiong to do? I can put 240 miles on my ski in a weekend with 2 tanks of fuel on my STX-12F. The 15F should be able to go over 200 miles on 2 tanks of fuel. Grudge Racing for 200 yds is good for a little fun now and then, but it gets old quickly. Naples, FL 2003 STX 12F 320 Hours...... As I wrote you in a personal e-mail, we don't release products (especially staged kits) before we do alot of testing. Especially long term testing. That way, when we make claims they are rock solid results that people can trust, not some hot air aimed at selling a bunch of kits. It is still winter here in Texas and our average air temps are high 30's to high 50's. Water temps are still in the low 50's. Also, this is one of the busiest times of the year for us, so we are very very busy taking care of customers. Last week I had one good day (monday) and it was 82 degrees and I got about 3 hours of testing in. Testing was performed with our K&N intake, modified R&D ride plate, modified OEM intake grate, Beach house sponsans, and a custom Skat-Trak swirl and 50 pounds of "balast" removed from the 15F. This is our "stock legal" race kit. Top speed was 64.2 (repeatable). However, there was a stage 1 RXP there and another strong running RXP riding with us. The 15F with the above modifications would jump 1 to 2 boat lengths ahead of both RXPs and hold that advantage to 58-60 mph. From there, both the RXPs had about 4-5 mph on our basically "stock" STX-15F. In rough water, it was much much closer An RXT would have no chance until about 3/4th of a mile to a mile and only in GLASS smooth water, against our "stock legal" 15F..lol. The Stage 1 RXP of my friend has never run better than 71.4 mph in a full superman pose. On this day best speed was 70.7 mph. Also, I wouldn't use Watercraft Worlds "Dream Demo" as the end all to what most pwc will run. It is a known fact that they use preproduction pwc that are supplied by the manufacturers in their tests. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the RXTs true production speed will be more like 64-65 tops in normal air. A Level 1 STX-15F will flat out destroy an RXT. A Level 2 would make a mockery of an RXT and soundly beat a stock RXP by about 3-4 boat lengths to 60 mph and hold that advantage indefinately. Not bad for a normally aspirated 1500cc three seater that can still go 80-100 miles on a tank of gas Our Level 1 kit final testing will be done on the next day that air temps are above 70 degrees. Actually, we did the round trip at a much faster pace than that, since we only encountered very rough seas in the way back. Our longest trips in our riding area last no longer than 4 hours, so we don't have to worry about refueling, also we run 90% of the time @ cruising speeds and only 10% @ full throttle, so when you ride a boat this way and you have 4 stroke engine with EFI under the seat no matter if it's a normal aspirated 160hp like mine or a more powerful one with their SC engines and 215hp with either one you don't have to worried to much about fuel consuption "as far you keep them at cruising speed", i know this first hand since i ride 90% of the time with RXP'S, and yes, I love fast boats because I can't live whithout this ADRENALINE rush!!! |
