Green Hulk,
the Turbo Charged 15F was having teething problems. Young Todd Barnham doesnt yet have the experience of the the like of Mac or Farthing yet. It is faster than the SC boats that were being raced. It took the holeshot in one moto. They were running it at 410HP down from the 450HP it can produce. I heard from a reliable source that it was radared at 92MPH before it left NZ.

What is your source? If what your saying is that he is a rookie at being a Pro then why did he get left down the starting stretch by so many other boats. Doesnt take much skill to drag race. If he did get the hole shot then why doesnt the photos from the WF show it?
http://www.memoriesinc.net/New%20Events/IJSBA%20WF%202005/IJSBA%20WF.htm

You claim 92mph but Farthings does only 88 mph. Funny how that works. If this kit could hit 92 then why did they pick a rookie-Pro to ride it? Maybe the hole shot you got confused with a Black STXR #4. (Tim Judge boat) That one is SC not Garret Turbo.

I don't doubt that one bit as I heard the same thing myself from a Kawi crew member. There are lot's of non believers though. Do you have anything backing up that 88 mph?

Not to in any way jump into the speed debate here but just to add a point of clarification on the turbo vs supercharger discussion.

Turbo's tend to be much better for top end vs bottom as they need the exhaust gases to push them. However...turbo'd motors can push usually higher peak hp numbers than superchargers simply due to parasitic loss. A turbo is free hp (meaning nothing is required of the engine other than exhaust gas to push it whereas the supercharger requires ever more power from the engine to rotate it faster and faster)...

So an additional hp from a turbo app is highly likely. However i would think in a direct drive application like a PWC the instant torque of a supercharger would be much more suitable for an application requiring acceleration first and foremost...

However if you wanted to build a top end monster with no regard for accel...

I heard Farthings ski was close to 90 mph as well. Orlando, where did you hear this?

It would be nice if we could get him down for the Mudbug Nationals Smile

I have not seen a True Supercharged craft yet. They are all turbo (centrifugal compressors) some are crank driven (like a stock RXP) some are exhaust driven (AKA Honda)

Someone ..Try a screw blower ,,,, true supercharger..

then you got my attention..

...With a Bridgeport, Engine Lathe, and a Tig welder. I’ll make it….

Well put Chris CoolWith the advancements that have been made in vains, some turbos are producing some great horsepower bottom to top.I did however ride a 15-f with a supercharger though and that package is going to be hard to beat,at least in closed coarse racing. The power was mind boggeling like instantaneous Eek

The only Turbo I have seen is the Garrett one at the WF and Honda's. All other kit have been superchargers of one kind or another.

I have the Riva SC kit. It hits 80mph. This kit is the mildest one on the market today. Other kits are using cams, head work, larger Vortec chargers and programmable ECU's. This is where the extra 8mph is comming from. Macc's kit, Farthing's kit and Judge's kit are all close to the same and all are tapping 88mph on a SC kit.

Someone in here made refferance to SC having to be driven by the power of the motor.
This is true but after it winds up it needs vary little to maintain the rpm. Turbo will cause back up in the exuast wich also strains the motor. Both kits reqiure more load on the motor. SC are popular becuase of it simplicity and HP on bottom end which is crutial in any competition use. No one is going to drop this kind of cash for a joy rider.

88 can be considered close to 90.

I was thinking of going MudBog myself.

The Judge has the greatest contacts and knowledge in this industry hands down. This man has all the tools and resource at his finger tips. What this man says and knows is the truth. The great thing is now that he's on his own, is that he's for hire to make some of the fastest boats out there. It was him who biult the Outback boat, and several if not all of Riva's Kits.

Having him on our Teams has payed off. Tim constantly talks to Macc and Farthing sharing info back and forth. These three are the power house of racing. If something is beating them out there then they will research it and prototype a kit for research. All three have not touched the Turbo for there own good reasons.

Contacts and relationships have always been benificial for me. I always stay in contact so as to learn from the Pro's not the Forums.

Green-Hulk, "Jerry" Ive heard about your monster. Dont know how these two green machines will come out together. Might be close. Ill have to fix my plate and sponsons to get another MPH. My boat can hit 81mph.
Ive been snooping around your sight and am simply amazed at what youve done. How about you buy a 07' Kawi and do the same R&D.

Id like to call you some time and chat. Maybe some of the option you have will work on my boat. ie boost gauge.

Ya you like that RC.
I planned a covert operation just before the WF. It included the help of some insiders but was able to snap off a few shots. Too bad Bruce wasnt in on the plan. He stopped me from getting pics of the give away GPR and all green SC boat. We'll see about next year......

Just talked to TJ before he left for Thailand.........The speeds he is running now on his 15F........The "Outback" GPR Record is in jeopardy. Keep in touch with him. Cool

Your last paragraph .............Contacts and relationships have always been benificial for me. I always stay in contact so as to learn from the Pro's not the Forums..........is SO true.

I listen to what the voices inside my GPR glove box tell me to do.

The "Outback GPR" record has already been shattered. It's just that some people fail to believe it Wink

The problem is the people achieving these insane speeds on the SC 15F could care less about holding the "top speed" crown. They are more concerned with winning buoy course races.

I'm a believer.........the tone in Tim Judge's voice every time he gets off of that SC15F in Naples with new World Record Speed #'s is drivin' me nuts!!! Cool

Even us "Vintage Two Stroke" GPR guys know there is a "smell of 4-stroke" in the air........and it's becoming more potent each day. Wink
