RC is this item going to have the tilt steering as the stock one does.

Is that what the "adjustable quik-turn steering" reffers to?

No. All UMI steering systems are fixed. Adjustable "quick-turn" steering refers to the multiple settings for the steering cable connection on the arm at the end of the steering shaft.

Note the steering system on the left (above). There are three threaded holes in the arm. You can increase or decrease the the steering rate by relocating the ball joint inward or outward.

The dealer where I purchased my 250X said the craft is regulated/governed to to 69 due to an informal agreement that stock crafts should not exceed 70 out of the box...He then stated that they would easily do 75 or better just by swapping the ECU board...

    Any truth to this?

There is no truth to either of those statements. The "informal" agreement was 65mph, but that was quite a while ago.

We know through our testing that it will take a lot more than just swapping out the ECU to get a 250X to even see 75mph much less exceed it.

I think that speed is important to a point...

I rode an STX 900 for five years before I traded it in on an STX-15F in '05...The 15F was like a rocket compared to the 900...

But as my skill and availabilty to ride have increased I have found myself getting of the lakes (so I would stop falling asleep) and spending much more time on the Thames and Connecticut rivers when alone...And when my buddies join in we have taken some good trips to Long Island..Montauk and Orient Point.

They are about 30 miles across the Sound from where I live in Norwich...

I would have bought the 250X anyway even if it only does 65 because this year we will be riding to Block Island which is about 55 miles from where we put in and I think this will be a much more comfortable ride...Plus great storage, which looks like it will stay drier.

Too bad the 250X doesn't have GPS built in..Handhelds kinda bite for having to stop and check....

    Jerry,
What's the furthest you've traveled up (North) on the CT. River?

    CrazyA,

My friend Bryan and I put in in Uncasville, CT by Mohegan Sun, and rode down the Thames River out to the Sound past New London down to Old Saybrook and then up the Connecticut River to Founders Plaza in Hartford.

    163 miles round trip...

Drawback is the amount of no wake zones in the CT river and a couple of them seem to last forever..Especially in Middletown by the Americas on the Wharf.

But I would say overall, it was defintely a good day..

Bryan has a 12F and I was on my old 15F...We filled up on gas before we lanched and we filled up again in Cheshire...

There are a number of good places to eat or gas up...

If you are in the area..I would be happy to tell you about any of the other trips we have done or events that come up.

That's a heck of a haul.... nice ride!!! You're right about the no wake zones on the River, and the Midletown one is a killer. The River is my stompin' grounds from above Hartford to Old Lyme.... and everywhere in between. 2005 GPR and a few other asorted rides. Maybe we'll hook up someday out there....
