Hey Riva Crew, How has the supercharger kit for the STX15 been holding up? what kind of hours can we get on the STX15 engine with the kit? how much internal work is required to put this kit together? Can a get a full race season without a rebuild?
I really miss racing, and am thinking about building myself a new race boat to race again.

Other than belt life, which is directly related to proper tension, reliability hasn't been an issue. We tore down the engine that Kane raced last season, which included World finals, and it was fine. The problems we had at World Finals were ignition related. Nothing mechanical at all.

Installation of the kit requires taking the engine apart. You must replace the stock pistons with forged pistons and the stock cylinder base gasket with a thicker one. We include these parts with the kit.

Obviously you will have to use better judgement when it comes to maintenance. Follow the guidelines in the installation instructions regarding oil changes. Check the cam chain tension and valve clearance as recommended in the service manual. Basically, if you take care of your equipment it will take care of you. Neglect it and you'll more than likely have this look on your face... Mad

No problem. If you have any other questions, or concerns, before you decide to purchase our kit don't hesitate to contact me directly. You can e-mail directly at rivacrew@rivamotorsports.com.

If you haven't looked through the installation instructions yet I would suggest you do. Here's a link: click here. You will need Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view them. If you don't have that program click here.

Thanks. We went all out with this kit. It's somewhat involved, but fairly straight forward. We have had many customers, some who aren't all that mechanically inclined, install the kit themselves without much trouble at all. I'd like to think it's because of the instructions as well as the design of the kit. Definitely purchase a service manual. It will help with the installation as well as regular manienance or any other issues you may encounter.

I don't have pricing for a complete craft with me. Pricing for Support Team Riders is determined by your level of sponsorship. Natuarally, we will work with you as best we can. Bubba, our Support Team Manager, is the one you will need to contact for more info on this. He can be reached directly at bubbak@rivamotorsports.com or by calling 954/247-0705.

if you are using Gates Poly GT chain gear tooth profile belts, then your tentioner is incorrect for belt life and application. If it's thier HTD tooth profile than it is acceptable. Rubber belt VS ploy chain material .

Your .PWF file info looks to be gear tooth profile(polychain GT) and not HTD.

PS. i know Gates builds some limited custom belts with GT material. b/c i used them before in my blower apps.. but there are very few of them.

what's the belt specs? part #

Thanks and Merry Christmas to all

I was referring directly to belt tension. That's why we recommend using a Gates Sonic Meter when setting the belt tension. We've found that being off by 6Hz or more will cause the belt to fail prematurely.

We've found moving the engine forward to be the fastest and easiest method. You don't have to move it far though. Just enough to pass the belt between the couplers.

MSRP on belt is $45.99.

On average, how long does a properly tensioned belt last?

Before we purchased our Gates Sonic Meter we were going through belts almost every moto. We were using the "it feels tight enough" method Roll Eyes based on installing the belt on an engine out of the hull, using the force deflection method to set the tension and then twisting the belt as outlined in our installation instructions. Obviously that's not the best method. Kind of like using your muscles to torque bolts when you should be using a torque "wrench".

Once we began using the meter we stopped losing belts. I don't know exactly how long they last though. We tend to change them well before it's necessary, keeping the used belts for spares. Which don't look used at all. I'll try to document the time on the belt we're using to develop our Supercharger Endurance Kit this winter.
