Hello all fellow Yama riders. Anyone riding a new 09 FX SHO yet? Just bought one from RIVA, had them install RPM Kit (minus Ride Plate), and waiting (as patiently as I can)for it to be shipped down to Grand Cayman. Then got a date with a few RXP's and Ultra's!!
I was on a waiting list for 2008's and they sold out and I got a 2009 from Lake Cumberland Marine a week ago. It's barely broken in and doing 65 mph. Once it loosens up, I will think about modding it--probably next spring. October is usually the last month you want to be riding in Ohio.
Very nice. I'll let ya know how mine does (with the mods) after I get it down here and break it in. Thankfully we have 365 days of summer down here in Cayman
hey welcome to the sho family.I got mine with the intake manifold upgrade and is ridin' strong. Its also getting kinda cold uphere in new jersey so i dont think i will have enough time to buy the rpm kit and test it out but will gladly apprecite the updates. i think i will still order the rpm kit and as soon as its starts warming up in 2009 put it together and start ridin that will be my best bet. But we want to hear how everything works out for you. 100% you aint going to regret it

Thanks, appreciate that. My SHO should arrive in about 10 days, unfortunately someone dropped the ball and it didn't get to port in time to make today's barge. But as we say in Cayman, "soon come". I'll defo let ya know how she runs. Did you see much difference in top end speed with the manifold upgrade?
yes i did.before the upgrade i raced a close friend of mine he's got a kawi 250 ultra( with mods including a ride plate) i used to take off the hole way ahead of him but in the stretch he would catch me and take about a ski ahead. Now after the upgrade i always beat him by like 1 1/2 ski at top end on both choppy & flat water so it improved a lot.To tell you the truth I'm still surprise and happy about it.I know with the rest of the kit that bad boy is going to fly!!!!!LOL

OMG, now you got me so excited dont know how I'm gonna make it thru the next week yo!! Ride an 07 VX Cruiser with RPM Kit right now but not in same league and tired of gettin passed by RXP's & Ultra's down here. It was just a tyde me over craft until the 09 SHO's came out. I hope that Ride Plate by RIVA isnt too far behind either! Thx 4 info.
I now have a whole 4 hours on my FXSHO and loving it! What I have noticed is Kawi 250X is just too damned big, unless you are fighting typhoon waves, and RXT-X riders, unless conditioned athletes, will tire out in the chop but my FXSHO is a great compromise between the two and with some simple mods, it will be faster than an RXT-X.
Well fellas, got confirmation this am that my SHO on boat from Miami to Cayman as we speak, prob just cruising around Cuba right now. Supposed to arrive late sunday night but I prob wont get thru customs till tues or wed. I'll let ya know how she goes!
Haha, ya i'm like willy wonka in the chocolate factory, haha. Yep, confirmed my SHO is in Cayman fo sho!! Still at port, have to deal with customs tomorrow, should pick it up wed morn and took rest of week off to RIP IT UP. By weekend should have broken that puppy in enuf to find an old nemesis (RXT) up the beach who is gonna find out what its like to get water splashed in his face haha!!
Well fellas, i "finally" got my new SHO into the water today and all I can say, so far, is wow. Just barely had time to break it in so haven't experienced the full effect as of yet, but its like riding a Shamu!!! That sucker gots some power yo. I'll have a better idea after tomorrow what she can really do but I'm sure that I wont be disappointed!!! Keep ya all posted.
Update. My new FX SHO has about 8hrs on it now. I am very pleased with its acceleration and low to mid-range torque. Handling, both turns and in big waves is amazing. Top end speed however, isn't what I expected considering it has an RPM Kit on it. On very flat water and calm wind conditions I am only seeing a max of about 68mph on the speedo and this is not consistent, but only occasional with fluctuations between 65-68. I know speedo not as accurate as a gps (I have yet to acquire one of these), but i was really expecting a bit more like 70-71mph with all the modifications. Am I expecting too much, do I maybe need more break-in time?? Will the new ride plate really make a difference when it finally comes out? Another question for you guys (no such thing as a stupid one right). When I'm flushing the craft, should I see that the majority of the water is coming out from around the 'edges' of the intake grate? Not from the shovel part but from around the edges of the plate part that bolts the intake grate to the craft.
