I saw that this was mentioned in the '1300 with triples' post and wanted to post a separate thread about this. Is this a common failure?
I have a 2004 1300RRE (with Riva porting) that failed. I put 40 hours on it this summer, ran great, fast and reliable, but one day while just loafing around on it, it just slowed down, then died, then would not even turn over. Pulled the heads off, cylinders (and pistons) one and two look great, no marks, good color, but cylinder number three is destroyed. Piston is above the engine deck, parts broke off the piston, it hit the head, just hammered to bits, metal parts in the exhaust and waterbox. Per conversations with Riva, they think it was a crank bearing. Now that I have the heads off, I agree. I am still under warranty and Riva has been very helpful, I will be shipping the motor to them soon, but the other thread made me wonder ... Is this a common problem with the 1300 motors? The second mouse gets the cheese |

Vern, I am sorry to hear about your low hours 1300 engine failure, I just want to inform you that inded this is a very common issue in these Gpr1300 engines also your boat issue has nothing to do with triple pipes set-ups, this issue is more related do to the poor workmanship of this cranks from the manufacturer, a while back i saw 3 1300 boats like yours all with crank failures in one of my local watercraft shops and all of them were single pipe.
