Not sure what you're asking specifically. We build motors to order.

could i use regular pistons, or does the flat top have something to do with timing?

Flat-tops have nothing to do with timing. You must use them because of the cylinder head's dome configuration. The space between the top of the piston and the dome (aka-squish) won't allow round-top pistons. If you want to run round-top pistons you must change the domes to round-top style.

So if I change the domes or head I will be good to go. Does Rive have domes for regular pistons,or should i just install my ADA head?

RC,

Your post has me confused. You're saying that your superstock cylinders, which have been decked for flat top pistons, only need a dome change to be able to run stock pistons????

What about the decking? Your regular domes (non-flat top) are designed to work with stock cylinders and pistons. I would think that with decked SS cylinders, regular pistons would smash into the domes if you tried using regular pistons in a decked cylinder with regular domes...

But you guys are the experts so please clarify and correct me if I'm wrong.

I might be a little upset though if I hear I'm wrong...about 4 years ago I got tired of paying $30 a gallon for race gas and asked about lower compression flat top domes so I could run your SS cylinders on 95 octane pump gas. The response I got was that there weren't any lower compression flat top domes made, and my only option would be to have someone cut the domes specially, or rejug and buy new domes for regular pistons.

I chose to rejug, which wasn't exactly cheap. but according to your post, all I had to do was replace the pistons and then buy new domes???

Please tell me the real deal...

Thanks mate,

Ray

Enjoy all,

Ray

i have these cylinders
GP1200R/1300R
Cylinders are resleeved with RIVA's hardened chrome-moly iron alloy racing sleeves and bored to 80mm. Porting and deck height are set up to run with our flat top racing pistons (RY1000-66V-80). Includes RIVA Gas Operated Powervalve and base gasket port matched to cylinder.

the sleeves are 87mm. can thay be bored to 84mm and what pistons & pins can I use if I'm using a hot rod crank?

R-I-J: I omitted the decking. You are correct.

chherrera: You can't bore a bigger size to a smaller size. It must be resleeved to reduce the diameter. However, the port timing will not be correct after the cylinders were bored out to 87mm.

I ment the outer size of the sleeve is 87mm. if I bore to 87mm there wont be any sleeve left.
