I went to my local hardware store (Lowe's) or you can use Home Depot ar whatever hardware store retails in your area. This is what I used:

DAP Contact Cement GEL. It does not run, applies better and dries faster and runs roughly $6.00 a pint
Click here for what it looks like

I am not sure what stores they have in the UK, but you should be able to find this at a hardware store near you.

There's nothing wrong with the cement from Hydro-Turf. We've used it forever. The Weldwood by DAP is a good cement as well. But, if you don't prepare the mating surfaces properly nothing will work.

Sand/scuff the surface the mats are to be applied to. Then, thoroughly clean the area with a non-residual cleaner. The cement must be applied to the mats and mating surfaces and allowed to dry completely prior to installation. Don't apply too much either. A coat just thicker than a skin coat is sufficient. Don't allow any dust or foreign debris to come in contact with the surfaces the cement was applied to. Once the mat comes in contact with the mating surface it is to be installed onto DO NOT attempt to adjust it. If you have to, remove it completely, strip both surfaces and start the process all over.

Another tip; add a little super glue at any sharp corners or high wear edges after the mats are installed. It's an added measure of security (as in securing the mat).

We just received one of our race hulls from 1998 that was on display in Race Rock Cafe (now out of business) after a full season of racing and the mats are still secured to the hull with no signs of coming off. Why? Because the proper steps were taken when preparing the mating surfaces prior to installing the mats. Wink

Weldwood works great. Get the runnier stuff, not the gel. I think hydro-turf cement is just weldwood with a different label. Thin layer of it is important, just enough to cover it. Also, going back around the edges is a great tip.

The HT glue has been holding my mats on for 3 seasons now. No problem here.
