Hi all, i have an issue with one of my skiis that i'm hoping you all could help with. From dead start the ski is fine and it powers nicely up to about 40-45 mph, but once I try to accelerate from there and the throttle gets to about 3/4 to WOT, the ski/RPM's just bog down at about 6500-7000 RPMs as per the stock tach. Once the RPM's and speed come back down, it will pick back up until I do the same thing. The overheat sensor will go off if I do this cycle a few times in close succession. This ski is also the one where the oil level doesn't drop as fast as my other ski of the same model/year. I feel something is wrong with the oil injector, however i've had it to the shop in the past for the oil issue and they reassured me that there is no clog in the oil line and that everything is fine. Obviously its not. I do run Yamapuke, but am going to switch to Amsoil after hearing you guys talk about Yamalube being junk. I'm also going to order the blockoff plate and pre-mix, but do the my symptoms ring a bell and make you think there are other issues? Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

hey just thought you should know yamalube sux!. ok my first thought is if this ski is carborated then i'd say it sounds like a carb issue.also this happened to me last year when i was trying to save money and got regular gas at one of those mom and pop gas stations (never again!!!!)she ran like crap for a while. one more thing i would do is put in some fresh plugs that are gapped to spec.
hope this helps
later
mike

I actually put new plugs in yesterday and gapped them as per the service manual. This is the first time I had them out this season and did put new gas in it from BP. It still had some from last season, plus what I put in today. Same for the other ski and that ran perfect.

I had the same thing happen to me at the end of last season. I think it was bad gas because I siezed by other boat the same weekend that this one started acting up.
I am putting new carbs on it and having some other stuff done so it is going to be hard to put my finger on what the problem was.

So I was taking my ski apart to install the block off plate and I saw that the oil line going to the 3rd carb closest to the stern was barely connected to the inlet on the carb. Could this have been my problem?
