Yes. Put a thin film completely covering the sealing surfaces on both case halves. If you put it on thick it will squeeze out on the inside of the case as well as the outside. On the outside it is only a mess to clean up. On the inside little pieces that you can't get to can come loose in there with time and possibly get into a oil passage. Fercho had a post with pics awhile back.
