To test the main bearings for smoothness you can do so by rolling them over by hand. Inspect the lower rod bearings at the connecting pin to see if they look burnt. If they look dark (tan or brown) or show signs of wear they could be going bad.
The above advice for testing bearings isn't a guaranteed method. A bearing can look and feel fine yet still go bad. Length of use for a crankshaft is subject to amount and type of use; or abuse! The service manual lists tolerances for deflection limit, big end side clearance and maximum small end axial play. We highly recommend the specs be followed. I'm still not sure what you mean by "working properly". Sorry, but I don't like to assume anything. Especially when it comes to something like the crankshaft. This message has been edited.
