The right rear insert on the ride plate is spinning. To get the bolt out, heat it up?

I used a pair of Vise Grips to hold it from the inside of hull,then,backed it out.I put another plate on and used the Vise grips again to reinstall bolt and cleaned the inside surface with Acetone and applied Marine-Tex and covered entire insert.Never spun again or leaked.Aftermarket inserts are the way to go,but this is a quik fix and works good also.

That probably won't help - too late. Take the battery box out - water box if you have to - and get a pair of vise grips on it to hold. Best fix is to take them all off and go back with brackets.

It looks like there is already marine tex in this insert, then theres that big blob of brown stuff. So I should remove the marine tex, then put the vice grips on it? Then I will be able to take bolt out?

Get a heat gun.Its not fun but apparently,someone has tried to fix it.Just get aftermarket insert plates and do them all.Thats my winter project.Heat the glue up and pry them off.I used a 1000 degree gun.

The brown globs of glue have always been there. But do I have to melt as well? Or just the marine tex?
