Hey, all new to the forums! Got a question...I have a 1996 Yamaha WaveVenture 1100, completely stock, which is having a few problems. Last week I brought it out for the first time since last summer, and it was running awfully. As I would try to accelerate, it would bog, and immediatly shut off. I did get it to actually move by pumping the choke while holding down the throttle. But, while I was going about 40-50 it would out of no where just shut off. It would turn right back on, idled prefectly, but still the same problems persisted and I still have no explination for the problem. I am as of now trying to find out what could be going wrong, but I don't know where to start! Can it be the carbs, (which I have never touched before lol)the fuel filter, bad gas, water in the gas?!?!! Helppppp!

hmm well i'm no expert but i know from experience that when you store something, no matter how good, things go wrong. Chances are you should probably have the carbouretors rebuilt if you've never had it done and if you have then you should probably do it anyway. When engines sit for a long time all the fuel gunks up and doesn't allow for the good fuel to flow. Then i'd check the gas in your tank to make sure it's good and then i'd change the fuel filter and check the lines to make sure fuel is flowing freely. Oh also, check the plugs, you should probably replace them. Keep us posted and hope this helps.

The easiest and the most likely would be to drain the tank, disconnect your lines to the fuel pump, blow them out, clean out all the old gas, if you did not stabilize the fuel it might have condensation in it, replace your fuel filter also, that would be the cheapest and easiest to do, , -----the next thing to do on this ski is rebuild or replace the fuel pump, the gaskets inside get hard and brittle,it will pump a little but not enough..

Yea, probaly going to drain the gas and blow out the lines, but how do I go about draining out all the gas? It has like a 1/4 tank right now and not sure how I can empty the whole thing.

Did you fill up your ski before winter time?
Did you change your plugs?
Look at your fuel filter for seperation of water and gas.
If all else fails, bring it the best mechanic around here.
His name is Paul at JR.Magoo's Powersports in South Toms River on Rt.9
I personally think it is time for a carb rebuild, your needles might be sticking.
Like I said if all else fails, bring it to that guy Paul. Best prices around and 1 of the few mechanics that actually still rides.

Tell him Mike from Ortley Beach sent you.
He helped tune my GP1200.
