Hello guys, Here's an idea but don't know if any one has tried it. The 2006 GPR does not have any power valves which is one less headache, as electrical equipment last longer than mechanical. The CDI has complete control of the rev limit. Removing the cylinders on a 1200 and installing 1300 cylinders would be to expensive. So if we remove the power valve motor and cables then lock the valves in position in either open or closed and Install a 2006 CDI. The only problem is i think the 2006 has a completely different CDI and wiring so they are not interchangeable. What about an after market CDI? could they be configured to work eliminating the power valves?
By locking the powervalves in either position you will basically kill all the performance the engine has to offer. Locking them in the down position will kill the engine too! It will never get up to speed (rpm-wise). This will put a tremendous load on the engine which, over time, will cause damage.
The new motors [without powervalves] are configured differently, but perform similarly to the powervalved motors. There's more to it than just the electronics.

Interesting thanks for the reply. I know the motor has increased hp with valves down to increase low end power. so at wot the valves open compression drops increasing high end power.
The increased hp with valve down, is from increased compression. At that state at full wide open throttle the engine has to much compression with little exhaust that is why the engine can be damaged in time.
Sounds like the 2006 with no power valves must have larger exhaust openings or positioned differently at a lower height maybe. Which means you have to replace the cylinders as well. would i be correct?
Ok The original stock cdi does have a rev limiter along with a power valve output control signal. If we remove the power valve motor completely and replace the cylinders with the newer non power valve, then it should be fine. The cdi will never know the power valve motor is missing.
