I have heard of a couple of different methods on how to clean carbs on my 01' GP1200R but would like to hear from the guys who do this a lot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have the carbs off and dissassembled and am going to rebuild and re-jet.

Unless they are severely corroded you only need to spray them down thoroughly with carb cleaner. Then clear them out with an air hose. Make sure you have a good water separator hooked up to the air line!

If they are corroded what you do will depend upon how severely. If the fuel circuits and fuel pump are full of corrosion you should consider replacing them. If you can't afford to or they aren't to bad you might be able to salvage them by repeatedly soaking them in a tank of acetone. Be sure to completely disassemble them (throttle shaft, choke shaft, etc). After you remove them from the acetone let them sit for a minute or two. Then clean them out with an air hose and soak again if there is still corrosion present.
