The World Record we hold is for fastest speed using a Personal Watercraft. The record attempt Toms posted a link to is in a different category altogether. Anyone can go out and hit a top-speed that is higher than those documented in the Guiness Book of World Records. But, until you actually do it the right way it doesn't count as a World Record. PWC are capable of very high peak speeds, but it's a whole different story when you have to carry a sustained top speed for over 1K. I say over 1K because you must be at speed before entering the course and not let off until after you've exited the course in order to average a high top speed. And that's where it gets tricky. The water and weather conditions are constantly changing, the motor is under a lot of stress and there's always the mental element to contend with. We don't discourage anyone from building the World's Fastest PWC. Go for it! We'll even help where we can. It will only help our sport get more positive recognition.

THATS ODD NO 1 HAS MENTIONED THE OUTBACK 87MPH SKI WAS AT THE JETFEST RALLY IN TENN,, AND ONLY RAN 74MPH,, IF I WAS THE GUY THAT PAID 35K FOR THAT SKI AND GOT IT HOME AND IT RAN 75MPH I WOULD BE PISSED, I THINK THE SKI HAD NOS ON IT AT THE SPEED TEST FOR THE RECORD BECAUSE THAT SKI HAS NEVER RAN CLOSE TOO THAT SPEED WITH THE NEW OWNER

No to the NOS...TJ would'nt lie nor the dozen or so witnesses to the run. It just needs to be tuned properly. There may some "parts" missing bt that ski should be running 80+ every day out.
'01 1300 BB w/ triples, Special K porting, PistonWash tuning...85.2 mph.

We sold the Outback Special as is. Not parts were removed. Not knocking anyone here, but it's a world of diference between riders and tuners. Especially when the rider is also the tuner and the best in the business in both areas. I took the Outback Special across the lake a few times. My best run was just over 80. Same with another tuner here. He was able to reach 83 or 84. Oh, and at no time did we use NOS or even install a system. We toyed with the idea, but decided not to go with it. This decision was based on the flying kilo required for the record.
