My ski has Riva exaust kit fitted to std water box,and Stage 1 Kit. Last weekend we fitted a Digition Ignition, Riva # RY 11820,Set to curve 1. Went for a ride, new gas and flat water, it would not do more than 7000rpm and was top end slower than Std? pulled it out and swapped back to Std and RPM 8200 and top speed increase by 6mph, sure it was not as fast getting there marginal but top end lost is a problem, as this weekend going we have a 100mile race.
Is there the possibility we got the dip sws wrong and if I swap the dip switches totally the othwer way will it do anything to the rest of the engine?
Cheers John, A LONG way from most of you.

1) yes you might have the switches reversed, you can't hurt anything if you reverse the settings on all of the switchs

2) for the 100 mile race if you sill have the stock exhaust you might put it back in, you will be 1 to 1 1/2 mph faster on top

3) there are some other ideas in the Stage II post (see link below) you might also do, specifically
get more air to the motor (gain 1 mph)
shim the trim tabs down (improve handling)
step sponsons (improve handling)

opening up the slot is fine

if it is rough water I'd suggest leaving the bucket in

in any water conditions I always use 2 washers under all 8 trim tab bolts
