#1 I'm running a 1999 Yamaha stage 2 1200 and have been experimenting with the octane level (have the riva head with domes, 175 PSI, & 40 hours on rebuild). There seems to be an instant and smooth acceleration from start to WOT with a 95 to 96 octane mix but above 97 it seems like I get some acceleration lag from idle as well as popping noises and rough running between 3000 & 4000 RPM's. Problems are not there at idle or at higher RPM's. Is this an octane mix problem, a coincidence, or something else? I use NGK BH7ES plugs and change them every 6 hours when experimenting. Idle Stop is set at 4 MPH, all low speed screws at ~3/4 turn.

#2 I still have my original tach and it is showing around 6500 steady RPM's at WOT (96 octane). Can I adjust my high speed fuel setting for increased WOT RPM's? How many RPM's should I probably be topping out at?
