hey, i have an 06 1300r and ever since i put the d-plate in i get an exhaust temp overheat (code 53)when crusing in the back bays, it never does it in the ocean. now i did everything i was told so far. it includes no chip, the riva chip, believe it or not i was told to try the r&d chip, i also made my own chip with a resistor from radio shack, i also triied removing the sensor all together and putting a brass plug in,and i did that while letting the sensor just hang as well.I know there has to be something out now that solves this problem and i know that i'm not the only one out there who has it too.so what should i try in the spring?and before anyone suggests taking out the d-plate i like the proformance gains that it gave me. COME ON RIVA!!!!!

i feel better now.....hehe...

We've looked into this extensively trying every different resistor possible with no success. Yamaha's required to include the cat/con in US models so they aren't to inclined to provide any insight as to what might resolve the problem. Sorry I can't be of more help...

There are a number of mods you can do to your GPR. It depends on your requirements, budget and how much work you want to do! We offer three "packages" for the GP1300R. Click here! Each kit page lists the parts and what they do pertaining to performance improvement. Here's a very brief overview of each.

  • The RIVA Racing Edition kit provides noticeable improvement with minimal modifications. Yes, the exhaust is modified. But, this is to reduce the the loss in performance attributable to the extreme heat produced by the catalytic converter.
  • Stage I goes a few steps further providing more improvement in relation to handling and acceleration.
  • Stage II is the highest level of modification we offer as a complete kit. Significant improvement to acceleration is the most noticeable modification with some improvement in top speed over Stage I.

Have a look at each kit page and think about what you're primary type of riding is or will be. You can put together your own combination of parts based on your needs and/or budget. Post any questions and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction.

BTW - This really should be moved to its own thread. A) So it's in a thread related to the topic. B) So we don't hijack waverunnin_nj's thread. Wink
