hey guys im new to the forum and im starting with a loaded question. Here is the issue I got. The ski is a 02 GP1200R. It has the S3 Stinger exhaust from Riva. I bought the jet works flow control vavle for the stinger, installed it and took it out to the water. The ski started fine, and i let it warm up for about 5 min. Then i floored it and took off. After about 1 min, the engine overheat warning came on and it cut off instantly. I took the seat off and felt extreme heat radiating. There was also some exhaust smoke under the seat. So after swiming for about two hours pushing my ski back to the ramp, I checked the vavle to see if it was working. Took it apart and the inside was wet. I thought it might not be opening. Anyways, Ive decided to put the old screw type adjustable vavle that came with the kit back in. Now here is the issue. After i put the old valve back in, she wont act right. Idles fine, but when i floor it, she revs to about 4 grand. If I play with the throttle, she'll rev up quickly to 5,500 rpm then instantly back down to 4,000. Took it to shore and put in 3 new plugs, no better. I think i may have damaged something internal. what shoud i do?

It's possible you damaged the engine internally. During your 5 minute warm up
the Flow Control Valve was preventing water from flowing; which is required with this set up. Do a compression check. If the compression is off you need to pull the heads and visually inspect the cylinders and pistons.

Just out of curiousity what made you remove the Adjustable Inline Restrictor and install the Flow Control Valve?

sheer stupidity combined with a general lack of knowledge. I did a compression test and got 105 for front two, and 100 for rear

It happens. No worries. You're compression is low. Pull the heads and have a look at the cylinder walls and pistons so you can get an idea of how bad it is. If you need advice please post pics of any damage. Hopefully it's not too bad.

BTW - I've made my share of mistakes. Sure does steepen the learning curve! Roll Eyes
