I am one of the few that is actually impressed with the new 1300. I have owned 2 1200rs and 2 1100s, the 1300 is more responsive than any of the others. I admitt the top end is not very different than the 1200. All my buddies ride ultra 150s, on my 1200 I could hand with them on the top end but they would literally leave me in their wake out of the hole. On my 1300 I installed a Solas 13/19 concord impeller and 87mm nozzle. I did these mods before it was broke in,so I cant compare with a stock ski. I pull the m out of the hole and am at least 1-1.5 mph faster on top end. Is this because of my mods or does it out perform an ultra stock to stock??

The 99 ultra was the fastest year for them stock I believe. I have a hard time believing you are pulling from them out of the hole. I find it impossible, there must be something wrong with their ski and/or they have a seriously chipped impeller. My 1300r is 100% stock,(modifications on the way) and it has poor acceleration, decent midrange, and excellent topend. I'm sure the addition of the impeller and nozzle has made a nice difference, I hope cause I have that and plus much more on the way to add on to my 1300. These are just my opinions, but since I live in a resort area and get to run up against many different skis I can tell you that every ultra150 I have raced with my modded 1200, has been neck and neck off the line to topend, and my 1200 will pee all over my stock 1300r.

I like my 1300 as well. I find it to be ok out of the hole and the mid range is AWESOME, much better mid range than my 98GP12 and much better than my friends modded RXDI. At about 35 mph. I literally blow past him. I would like a bit more top end, I found it to be only about 1-1/2 mph faster on top end than the modded RXDI. His RXDI is a fast one and has been GPS'd at 63.5 mph. I think that the top end will, hopefully improve after a few more hours. I have 8 hours on it and was running with 6 bars of gas. I plan on getting sb solas prop, a ride plate and nozel, then I should have no worries. I love the boat it's great in the chop and I also like the graphics. I feel like I am riding the best that is out there.

Prepare to be surprised. The 13/19 prop and pump plug will DRASTICLY increase your hole shot. The GPR in stock form cavitates severly off the line. The 13/19 and PPK will get rid of 99% of the cavitation resulting in a much better hole shot. I also ride with an Ultra and when i put these mods on my GPR i went from getting spanked off the line to being able to pull a boat length or so on the ultra. |

Jimbo, what mods does your friend have on his RX-DI??? I would be interested in them for mine.

Wow!!!! Thats what I like to hear. Cant wait to get my mods on. I just winterized, cleaned, and wrapped away my 991200. Going to pull off the impeller and get it up to Carl at IR. So being that the 1200 is in hibernation mode now I am going to be giving this 1300r the fair chance it deserves to impress me. From what you guys have been telling me and the feedback I have heard I am assuming that I am going to really enjoy this ski.

My friend with the RXDI is a Sea-Doo mechanic and he has blue printed his pump. I don't quite know what this means but I think that he has sharpened the stators. He has also sharpened and polished his impeller and done something to his intake grate. I almost forgot, but he also put on flame arrestors and claims that gave him a 1/2 to 1 mph. I know that this boat is fast. When he first got it, my old bone stock GP12 at the time was easily just as fast, but each week that we would ride, he would be doing something to his boat and now his boat would have at least 2-3 mph. on my old bone stock GP. |

Freeman:
He definately has flame arrestors. He says that it helps him out of the hole. He checks his plugs often and everything is fine. He has been talking about a ride plate and a prop re pitch as well. He hopes to have a 66 mph ski by the end of the season. I'll probably see him on Monday and if its ok with him, I'll forward his email. |

I to am impressed with the performance of the 13r over the 12r. I also agree with your top-end comment. I'm going to take that farther after riding a Riva 13r Stage II ... I was not impressed with the additional 5 mph of the Stage II. I was impressed with the improved handling. The Stage I handling items were noticable improvement.
About the Ultras. My 12r was always beat out of the hole by my freinds Ultra150, with a stock 13r I now beat him including top speed ... to beat an Ultra150, buy a GP1300r. [ 06-05-2003, 07:52 AM: Message edited by: WaveRunnerGreg ] |

Waverunnergreg-
You beat an ultra with a stock 1300r??? |
||||
|
HeHeHe
They must have different Ultras around the world then what I have been seeing. All the stock Ultras I have seen around here with bone stock motors and used Impellers are hauling a$$ out of the hole!! I'm not trying to start a back and forth discussion here, but please, the Ultra 150 is a very fast ski out of the hole stock, and will easily take ANY Stock 1300r to top speed. Over time any used ski will develop nicks and chips on the impeller that will hamper performance. |

I notice that Waverunner Greg was happy with the handling mods Level one, but not too impressed with speed gains. I am thinking of putting a 13-19 Solas Impeller, Riva Ride Plate, Exit Nozel and PPK. on my stock 1300R. Is it worth it, will it wake the boat up, will I notice a very noticable improvement, or will I be dissapointed. I don't want to P*** my money away.

FYI::
I have both boats and the Ultra smokes the GP out of the hole (both stock). At the top end the ultra slowly will walk away from the gp. The difference at the top end is very slight and you may not notice unless you are riding side by side for long distance. Overall both boats Rock. |

You beat an ultra with a stock 1300r???
Yes ... stock GP13r with 6 hrs on it beat a stock Ultra150 out of the hole and was slightly faster at top speed. |

|
Will the sb 13-19 Solas prop and 1200R nozzel make a noticeable improvement to my stock 1300
|

|
The solas 13/19, 87mm pump, pump plug kit, and sealing the pump will all contribute to a very noticible difference.

What effect does all this have on the engine? Will you have to re-build more often, etc. Just purchased a 1300 and would like to do a few things if it will not keep my ski from breaking all the time.

quote:Your engine will be fine. Thoses mods will have no effect on your engine, but rather they will allow your pump to be stuffed with more water, better hookup, and more thrust to apply to the water. You can also do a boat load of modifications to your engine and still retain reliability. Reed Stuffers, Powercore, EFI control Unit, FreeFlow,Flame Arrestor are just a few to name that will not affect reliability. Once you get into the head and start beefing up compression, then you start walking that fine line of what is safe and not. Many people here do have heads and they have no problems. Hope this helps.
