took out the 1300 today, what can i say, IMPRESSED!!! with just stock everything so far..

but....
took out my brothers gp800r today as well, and it acted and seemed normal till we put it in the water..

At first it started up, ran in idle then as soon as you hit the throttle it DIED..my wife went to start it up again, and the cranking seemed to be getting weaker, just like a dying car battery, soon after bringing it back to the dock it would just click everytime i hit the starter..

So i put it on the trailer, ran some jumper cables to my truck and let it trickle charge for about an hour and a half..

engine cranked over, started up again,, did this a few times,,put it back in the water, started up again, then when my brother hit the throttle it DIED a second time...

told my brother to buy a spare battery which we dropped it in figuring that the old battery wasnt holding a charge, but again, even with a New battery it still wouldnt turn over or start up, just clicked or popped like it was trying to turn over but just wouldnt.

OKAY, now that you have the background, any guesses to the mystery illness to this ski,, so far its been bullit proof, until today!

Taking it into the shop tomorrow, and go figure that the dang factory warranty is up by only about 5 days!!!but i have an inhouse warranty for 2 more yrs..so we shall see

thanks for any responses

Hey Irv who do you take your ski to in Kansas City? Just wondering b/c I found they all suck. I get mine serviced at the Lake of the Ozarks at Surdyke.

I think 120 is low - should be something like 140-150 (I have a 1200 and they have lower compression) Maybe someone with a 800 can comment?

dropped off the 800r today, service manager went to start it, and it still wont turn over, pulled the plugs, can see the metal of the piston head, but it seems STUCK AND wont turn over,

anything fellas, FERCHO, MDKOCHE, GANG ETC.
a guess?

oh and 120 compression is right for the 800r for my altitude.

It could be all kinds of things in the lower end that went bad. Oil injection system, crank bearings, wrist pin, etc.... The only way to tell is when they tear it apart and hopefully they will find the cause of the problem. a lot of times they will re-build it only to seize up again. Hopefully they will find the cause of the problem. Carb's oil injection, who knows.... Could also be a dropped Power Valve. That seems very likely considering there are so many of them going on right now.
