I have about 116 hours on my ski and my compression dropped from 150 to about 137 average. Is it time to replace rings, what is the average that you all replace them as far as hours go. ??

If you are going to disassemble the topend for rings you might as well install new pistons, those things take a beating, the skirts get fatiged and will break off causing lots more motor damage.

116 hours sounds about right. I had to rebuild top end, found deto damage, tried to get by on the cheap with just a crosshatch rehone but it wouldn't hold compression. Had US Chrome redo the cylinders, replaced the Wiseco's with Pro-X and I went from 120 psi to 145 psi each cylinder. I would have your cylinders inspected by someone if, like me, you aren't an engine expert. Have fun!

How did you like thoes wisecos??? I have used them in all my other toys with good results but no one seems to like them much for jet skis... and in particular the GPR. Did you have any problems with them? |

The gauge could be off... Dont think a Yamaha needs to be rebuilt at around 100 hours. should be around over 200 hours for a rebuild.
