Guys I've got into a mess.
I know that I need mounting plate to install R&D Dominator manifold with stock carbs (GPR) but neither R&D nor Riva manufacture this part. Wher can I order it?! Or could someone give me working drawings for it? Or something to make it! |

Almond,
You do not "need" the mounting plate. I ran a dominator with the stock carbs bolted directly to the manifold. You just need to find or make the right length bolts to go through the carbs. Trim the throttle wheel (trim off the portion that operates the oil injection) and trim the cam wheel that operates the accelerator pump so that they clear the manifold. I am assuming you are no longer using either the oil injection or accelerator pump. You will also have to drill and tap two holes in the front side of the manifold to mount the throttle cable bracket. If you really want to use a mounting plate you can make one using the stock manifold as a template as they are very similar, just dont drill all the mounting holes. You will only need to drill the 4 (ea.) carb mouning holes and trim the mounting plate to clear the bolts that hold the dominator on. This message has been edited. Thank you!
And do I need special gaskets between manifold and carbs? I can make thaem by myself but what material? Rubber? |

... I am confused, I don't see how you can do this without a plate?????
the carb mounting bolt holes on the Dominator are not the same distance apart as the holes on the carbs - so how will this work? and are you suggesting that you mount the carbs on the Dominator on an angle? Almond,
Use the stock carb gaskets, they are reuseable as long as they are in good shape and the foam is not torn. Phillip, The dominator has holes in it to accept the two bolts that go through the top of the stock carbs and mount in the same location/orientation as stock. One bolt threads directly into the manifold. The second bolt goes through the manifold and threads into the case. The SBN mounting holes are not used at all. The adapter plate is handy in that it allows you to remove all three carbs as one unit and also makes syncronizing the carbs a little easier but it can still be done without the plate. To remove the carbs you will still have to remove the same six bolts regardless of weather or not you use the mounting plate. Contact Glen with R&D he should have some. Installating the carbs without the plate makes it difficult to synch the carbs, and requires modification to the throttle wheel, one of them which is removel of the wheel stop.
