has anyone run the Riva CDI on a stock engine GPR to address the power valve closing issue and to gain an increase in the rev limiter? Also any experience with this product for rough water conditions when running a stock engine?
Also can you run the Riva CDI on a stock timing setting? Is it entirely plug and play without any wire splicing or cutting and easy to return to stock?
What are the rev limiter settings, power valve settings and is there a stock timing curve?
Thanks,

I just put a riva cdi on my boat and all I got is the dplate. The setting is on the stinger 2 curve and I have had it out twice so far. Did an open ocean run about a half hour each way and really liked it. Definitely eliminated that braking feeling that you get with the stock cdi and powwervalves closing. I dont know how I lived with out it with all the rough water and wave jumping that we do here.

Have you thought about having that stock head milled and really taking advantage of the advanced timing? Riva cdi is plug and play. You can adjust the powervalve timing and Revlimit. I'd say stick to 8000 rpms as a rev limit on a stock bottom end. Mine is set at 8500, which my be a little too high, but works pretty good.
After reading the instructions that came with my CDI. Timing curve 1 is suitable for stock applications. It looks like it has the same timinig advance as the stock CDI.
Anyone needing a detailed timing curve chart ,send me an email at Watercraft193pro@aol.com I will send you a copy. I got the details from Glenn at R&D back on August 21,2001
