Anyone have any good/bad experiences with SBT

How are their motors stock?

How are their motors if you mod them??

I have an SBT motor in my 97 and have had no problems what so ever. Their customer service is outstanding!!

I have never had one personally but have only heard good things. Many posts on Seadoo.net about their engines too. Might do a search over there.

Put one ina 97 last week. So far so good.

put one in my xp and in a couple of rides found out they forgot to put on the top piston ring on one cylinder. they would fix it but I was going to have to take it apart send it to them wait on it then get it back and pay someone to put it together again, so I just had it bored and new pistons put in runs good now

didn't you do a compression test when you recieved the engine back from SBT?

what happened when you started it and how did you find out the piston ring was missing?

have installed alot of these engines no problems none responds good to mods not always race legal.

A buddy of mine has the GPR1200 SBT motor in and so far it's been running great. He has the stinger2 pipe on and no problems. I think he wants to try the Riva head on it also.

seems to me from what i read on this forum ,that SBT is the best rebilt motor for the money they charge ,although from what i understand from their web site they only do basic rebilt,no trued cranks or rods ,in other words keep it as close as stock as possible.Is that so???

All cranks from SBT are trued and welded.

yes, cranks are trued and welded. what about the pistons??


I fried 1 piston. It will cost about the same to swap for a SBT motor or to rebuild with a t+w crank. what should I do??

tachtout - email me with the name the engine was purchased under, or the engine serial # or your RGA # so I can look up that warranty - I haven't heard of that happening in the factory - sounds like a very strange problem!

Ouch what?

bought 760 looked good, added pro tec rec head, got 15 hrs on it and it toasted the motor.

Not there fault as there warranty states ya sh*t outa luck if you mod it. I bit that one!!

Okay, thanks for that quality clarification. You might want to reserve such an enlightened opinion until you hear the rest of the story, however.
