please send me a pic of the PV Controller & Riva Cut cyl head, I am interested.

How is that impeller compared to the solas 13/19?

I have D-plate, rejet & FA, Free Flow, 13/19, Riva intake grate. All it takes is the PV Controller and more compression get me to 70? I find that hard to believe.

My GPR keeps up with a 2002 STXR in glass to light chop. I figure that is around 62 mph, but could be wrong. I am spinning my 13/19 around 7250rpms as well.

I am seeking 70mph now, and I just find it hard to believe that these 2 items will get me there. If so, that is great. Either way, send me a pic of the controller. send it to njrealtor55@yahoo.com

To get to 70+ this is what I am going to try
- Riva plate (skegs removed and angle increased)
- GP800R grate
- depitched 14/20 (Nujet 6.5 would work as well)

I have already done carbs, FAs and compression.

NJ,

You need more prop than a 13/19 to get to 70. They seem to top out at 67-68. Also you need the ride plate with the skegs probably removed and a good air day around 70°.

Most people including me post speeds that were achieved on one of those good air days.

These skis get to 67-68 pretty easy that other 2 mph is quite a bit harder.

62 mph sounds slow. That is low stock numbers unless the conditions weren't very favorable.

If that Nu-Jet 6.5 is the balanced setback impeller with a 12.5 - 18.5 it will barely get you to 70, but it does it real quick. I recommend that impeller as a good all around impeller. My pump has been blueprinted so that may be preventing me from spinning at the line. Some people say that impeller spins a little at the line.

Best I got with a 13/19 was 67.3 @ 7280

I think I'd be happy to get 67 with my 13/19. I still want to race closed course, so I was planning on trying to keep the 13/19 anyway.

Yesterday was somewhat colder and my gpr spun 7320, but the stock speedo only read 60. I know it is not true, but is my gpr that slow? I am not sure if the speedo can actually report slower speeds. I know they always report higher speeds than true.

Like I said earlier, my gpr can stay right next to a stxr. i was pretending to be superman, and he was just sitting down riding - but my gpr hung in there. I still need to gps my speed, but to me it just feels slow.

What is necessary to purchase to get my 13/19 to push 67mph?

my set up

riva d-plate
free flow
ride plate
oem intake grate!!danger but faster
nu-jet 6.5 speed freaks
riva milled head 145psi
pro-tec pv controller
carb mod rejet (this is key to get to 70 and should be done when the d-plate is done)
Action kaw/yamaha in bradenton fl are the magicians, they have been pumping out 2003 gpr1300 stage II's doing close to 74 [Eek!] so getting your boat dialed is the secret, bolting on parts only gets you so far!

jason, u want 70 pretty easy, get an I cut 14/20 from island. you may want to go 13/20 i cut with the 14 wheel. that should keep your r's in the 7200 area while maintaining holeshot and improving midrange. you do closed course dont you? dont pull those skegs off unless you really want that extra mph, you dont need to pull the skegs for 70. but hey, im only clipping 76, so what do i know........

better send a prop to him now though, hes about a month out for an i cut. gl

Hopat-

Thanks. I figured that a different impeller was the only way - I gotta talk to carl and see if the I cut 13/19 will pull 70.

Right now I am at 7250, but it still slightly rich. Yesterday it was a little colder and it went to 7320, but normally it is 7250.

What is a safe rpm to pull a 14/20 or 13/19 at? What rpm should I not go under to avoid detonation and blowing up the motor?

Can I still use the I cut with a stock head?

Would my impeller choice be different if I had 150 psi compression compared to stock?

i dont want to bog down this thread about this...call carl, **** take care of you. i dont want to say anything more becasue i dont know your entire setup. but i know you will need the 14 wheel cut down to hit the 70 all the time. again, carl will take the time to get you setup. i know hes backed up with work, so i would get in now if you r thinking about the 14 wheel cut. gl

Hop,

I don't think Jason is planning on getting the Riva - R&D plate.

You have a lot into your ski getting 76. Unless you go pretty radical your not going to get 70 with a stock ride plate.

I think Jason is trying the cheapest way to get there.

Jason

if you want to race close course your set-up should be very different than if you want to run as fast as you can on flat water, typically for a single pipe ski a CC set-up tops out around 65

an I cut is really a flat water high speed prop, for CC you would be better with a stock 13/19 or a stock 14/20 depitched to XX/XX. (or maybe even a Nujet 6.5 pitched at XX/XX with the hub machined) From what others have said you want the rpm to be no lower than 7050 to 7150 at WOT, so you would chose a pitch that gave you at least that rpm. Yes with a higher compression you should be able to run a slightly steeper prop.

For CC I would suggest you keep the 13/19 and add
- R&D trim tabs
- XL pump nozzle
- CDI (Advent or Riva) or a PV controller
- Increase compression
with your ski equipped this way it should top out at 63-65, but on a race course you will be able to leave a 70+ mph single pipe ski behind

or if you want 70, do as suggested above and put in your order for an I cut, and while you are at it get one of Carl's modified rideplates, but be aware in any chop at all the ski equipped this way will have a hard time staying hooked up
