I usually try not to get involved in used parts threads unless they violate our rules. But this one caught my eye.

Why would you buy pistons someone else has had lying around?

All it takes is one hitting the floor once to turn a simple top-end job into a nightmare. Deformities and cracks can go undetected until the piston is subjected to the stress of running in a motor.

This is for everyone - do yourself a favor and buy piston kits from a reputable dealer. I can't count on my own hands and feet how often I remind our parts stockers and pullers daily to be extra careful when handling pistons. If you drop one, it better be in the trash `cause that's all it will be good for.
