I was just reading about indexing spark plugs. This sounds pretty easy and inexpensive to do. I probably won't notice a difference but I'm going to try it anyway. But I have one question. What direction should the spark plug gap be facing?

I had a buddy of mine show me how he did it on his Arctic Cat sled and he faced his toward the intake. Seems logical since you want the open side of the spark pointing at the fuel charge. I realize with 2 stroke motors that fuel comes in all the ports in the cylinder, so I guess I don't know for sure. What's the reason?

I heard it was because fuel introduced in the chamber has a cooling effect and i guess if the open end of the electrode is facing the intake with the cooling of the fuel hitting it you might not get as strong or hot a spark ? Can someone else shed some light on this ? Fercho ?

"The finished product should have a correctly torqued spark plug with the open end of the electrode pointing directly towards the exhaust port. This prevents raw fuel from wetting or fouling the spark plug and can often "clean up" a slight rich condition and allows plugs to stay cleaner longer." Watcon
