Guys,
I am using my GP1200R as a tower for water skiers. I've reenforced the back panel right under the seat handle with some marine plywood. I weight 75Kgs, about 150 Lbs. The thing works just perfect, even to slalom ... Do you all think I can continue using it to pull skiers up to 200, or 250Lbs ? Or should I get a XLT , or any other 3 seater ? [Confused]

Thanks,
Chico

Well that all depends on how much you trust your Jerry-Rigging skills.....In most states it's illegal to tow skiers or a tube unless you have eigther : A) Rear-view mirrors or B) A "spotter" (someone facing backwards to keep an eye on the skier),and to have this you need a 3-seater....1)you ,the driver. 2)the spotter. and 3)the skier.

RonJon, one driving and the other facing the skier equals two. Used to ski all the time behind my GP 1200; totally legal here in Fl. I suspect what you didn't take into account was the possibility of the 3rd person meeting up with the ski at the skiing location.
Haven't pulled any skiers behind my 1300 becuase I bought a boat too, but with the 1300 not having that handy U-Bolt I would rig a harness using the two tie down holes.

I always thought it took a three seater to pull a skier .. place for the driver, place for the spotted, place for the skier if needing resqued? Is this not correct?

Hey Greg that is the law here in Kansas. You have to have a driver, a person facing the skier, and a extra seat just in case the skier gets injured. I have seen a few people trying to ski and tube behind their two seater. If you want to ski behind a two seater here it just comes down to not getting caught. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
