This is my 3rd weekend with the 2002 GPR and last week I saw 7170 rpm and 67.2 mph. Today I was seeing better speeds and better rpms, must have been lower humidity because I didn't touch the carb.s. I also reinstalled the Wet Wolf AAT and used the 2.25" shuttle this time. I saw constant 7190 rpm and got a best peak speed of 69.0 mph. This was in glass water and fuel level at a minimum. I have not seen this high of a speed on my GPS and was seeing 73 on the stock speedo for the first time today as well. And to all of you C-plate disbelievers I don't think I am missing any rpms or top end speed.
My mods are as follows: Solas 13/19 Riva impellar boot Riva flame arrestors w/sox R&D cast heads (41cc domes) C-plate Sealed pump with 5200 Carb. mods, 1.5 n/s,110 pilots,120 mains, 90 gram pop-off spring, and removed acc. pump. Wet Wolf AAT (2.25" shuttle) Everything else is stock. God I love my ski! ![]() |

Quote: And all of you C-plate disbelievers I don't think I am missing any rpms or top end speed, Rich, as you know i perform a test last year between the C-plate and the (oem) D-plate and found exactly the same peak rpms for both plates "but" when i test this same open C-plate against the R&D custom "smaller openning" D-plate my boat lose about 30 to 40 peak rpms, this test was perform in the same testing spot with only about 2 hour difference (the time it takes me to exchange the plates in my boat) then in order to regain my rpm loss with this plate i try to lean my carbs a little more and everybody know what happened later...... Rich, i have a question for you, how you can be so sure that there is no loss in peak rpms between this two plates if you had never perform this test before in your boat huh???? then do you realy think that the gaing in r's that board members Austin, Stewart and lately myself found in our gpr boats after the switch was only a coincidence??? humm... i don't think so bro

Geez Ray, take it easy dude.
I wasn't trying to say that the c-plate gets the same rpms and top speed as the d-plate. What I was trying to point out is that with the c-plate I am getting some pretty good top end and rpm numbers, but more importantly I get the benefit of the improved bottom end and midrange. If I had the smaller R&D d-plate maybe I would have hit 70, but I would rather keep the bottom and mid that the c-plate provides. I kept the stock noise suppression on the exhaust to provide some restriction since I went with the open plate. I have yet to line up my ski with a XPL, and that will let me know where my holeshot is. I don't want a top end monster that has to take its time getting there, I want it all. I am willing to giva a little top end to improve what is a dissapointing holeshot with the GPR. Yesterday I met a guy with a stock 2001 GPR, and we talked about mods and then he rode my ski. He was most impressed with the bottom end and acceleration of my set-up, this same guy also used to race motor cross. As far as the Voo-Doo Island magic that is being performed in Long Island, I just hope I don't run into a 67 mph XLL because he would rip me a new one in the chop. That would be most demoralizing. |
