i wanted to get some feedback from other 1300r owners . i think the 1300r kinda sucks. it porposes like crazy , so much i hated it the first few times i took it out . yesterday i finally put my skegs down , this seemed to help a lot but im still considering the longer riva trim tabs.here are the other things i am unhappy with 1) it is a gas gussler ( i thought fuel injection was supossed to help?) 2)the oil fill sucks , there has to be a better way for yamaha to set this thing up .3) the seat is so wide that the footwels needed to be bigger puts my feet in an uncomfortable position( it puts a strain on my knee). the only thing i like about it is riding it in the real calm water, and this only happened after i got it to do 70 mph ( after my IR mods). the first day i took it out , when it was stock i wasnt happy at all ,not too fast and porposed like a peice of sh!t ! not a $9000 product in my opinion. what do you think of your 1300?

Yamaha does'nt care anymore about the two-stroke motors, They figure if you want one bad enough you take it with the defects it always has and always will. Yamaha is only going to put there time in the four-stroke motors they know that the two-strokes only have a few more years left and they will be out. Just dont count on yamahas great warranty to help you out if you have problems. Choose a good dealer,it helps to have good fast reliable service, not some rookies. Oh yeah i can fix it. As the months go on.

I placed my order for one a month before the release date. When I got to see the 1300 for the first time, I canceled my order right away, cost me $200, but when I saw the little plastic cap on the side where the fuel switch is on the 1200, then the plastic trim tabs, then the stickers, etc...forget it. I don't mean to make any 1300 owners mad this is just my opinion and my money. [Roll Eyes]

I think the ski is great, before ive had a raider 1100, and 01 1200R and the 1300r is by far the best. Its taken me 5 hours to burn 1 tank of gas not going over 5ooo rpm, not to bad to me. The seat is perfect width smaller than 1200R, nothing wrong with oil fill. You do no this ski is made for speed not luxury, if u want that buy the sea couch limited. WHo cares about platic. Porposing i have had no porposing. NJGP1200 stay on ur 1200 who cares when im passing you doin 80 and your still doing your 62 ull be sayin well i did get out of the hole faster.

so your trying to say that your gp1200 will beat any gp1200r out of the hole. I think that is hard to believe. im pretty sure a triple piped, set up for bottom end ski will whoop you on the bottom end. and you will still be only going 62 while we will be going 75. I dont understand why you think the gp1200 is so great. I just sold mine for a gp1200r and would never ever change back.. dont mean to be a **** or anything but you need to realize you cant mess with a modded gp1200r. only other ski i would say is close to top end is ultra 150 and those can not ride the chop like a gp1200r. same with a gp1200 you will just be bouncing not hooking up one bit..

Where did I ever say that? Huh? Where did I ever say that? What are you from Maryland too. Whats this gang up Mike day.
I'll take my friends stock GP800 and smoke your 1200r. Then you can come back on here and say that you dont know why you just got beat out of the hole by a GP800.
Just for the record it has alot to do with riding experience, as well as the ski itself. I do like my 991200 and the mods. that I have done give this 1200 a nice boost off the line and in addition I have retained my reliability.
As for triple pipes,, I cant argue that , I would hope after putting on $2500 triple pipes, rejetting the carbs, tuning and going through all the other neccesary requirements a 1200r triple would be smoking my ski. Whats your point? When you find it, shoot me an email and I'll send my girlfriend down there and she can smoke you on my 1200, I'll just video it and post it up here.

If it wasnt for the GP1200, there wouldnt have been a GP800,GP1200r,or a GP1300r.
1 more thing. Some people arent so concerned about top speed as they are accelerating, jumping, doing tricks. All depends on what your looking for.

Why? You got bud or something lol!!!
I'm not going to argue with you about this, somewhere on this forum there is some guy in your area that is going to rip your 1200r on his "old and slow" GP1200. Just make sure you got the $$$$. Cause if you want to play with the old school boys you are going to need the new school toys, which cost $$$$$$$

Here we go again!!!!!!!!

I turn my back for one minute and you stir up the water again Mike! haha. [Razz]

I'm telling you... GIVE IT TIME! Wait until we get the mods on the 1300, THEN open ur mouth up and tell everyone what you think about it. GIVE IT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the 1300 is a great ski with a ton of potential. It is a ski designed for top end speed. Put some mods on it and I think this ski will really wake up!

And don't worry, I'll throttle back in "your territory"! With the angle mod and skegs removed on the rideplate, and me weighing 65 lbs less than you... it's going to be too easy to get you mad at me! haha. [Wink]

Tell me about it. Seems me and you going back and forth has won me a popularity contest. Now everytime I make a post about something I have to have the defense up. You have to admit ChrisGPR that kid was just asking for it??
Skysurfer, that was a real funny post in all seriousness. Some1 has to protect ole Reliable here. What can I say, I am crazed about my GP1200. No, I wasn't drinking last nite, I cant spell for SH$T when I drink.

How does that add to this post? Comments like those are the reasons these forums go downhill. If you want to trash talk poeple, go elsewhere. I'm not looking to cause trouble or make an enemy, but I'm tired of seeing trash talk on this forum.

Just a little FYI:
I used to have a 98GP1200 with very similar mods as NJGP1200. I too thought it was the quickest thing on the water at 62-63 mph. But when I started thinking about more mods I did my homework first. If you look in the 99 riva catalog it has the accleration numbers for stock and some of the mod kits they used to sell. I compared these numbers to acceleration numbers from an artical in Watercraft illistrated for a Stage II GPR. I found out that a Stage II GPR will out accelerate and outrun a tripple piped 97-99 GP.
You cant just go by seat of the pants acceleration. My GPR feels like a barge compared to my buddies modified Ultra but I still take him by 3-4 boat lengths off the line.
