A buddy of mine is in the process of opening a Performance Bike and Ski shop in the Houston area. He has got his eye on a jet ski DYNO. He is woundering how many of you would be interested in running a HP DYNO on your skies and what kind of input is out there.

Pro,
I will have to ask him the name of the manufacture. From what I saw on the brocure it is a attatchment that hooks up to the pump.

I have been using a land and Sea dyno for the past 5 years on snowmobiles. The units seems to work very consistantly, however, you will need a good weather center so that you can input consistant atmospheric variables to get good numbers as the units computer compensates for all that stuff.
When we are dynoing sleds, its $85 to $100 for a dyno session. i would imagine that it might be more on a PWC since it looks like it might take longer to install. Big Grin

Wet Wolf,
Thanks on the input. Looks like something to look into.

Pro1gpr,
$4000 ?? The one he is looking at is $8000-$9000.
I guess we will have to compare model numbers next.

jetskidaddy,
this is an e-mail form bill at watercraft magic to me about the dyno........could be something to think about . dana---------------->Actually, the accuracy is great, but, the reliability sucks.
The one we use has costs us over $20K in modifications and hardware and
software. Unless you plan on using it at least once or twice a month for a
few years, they are not worth owning.
Just about anything you really wanted to know could be gotten from a phone
call to someone like Dan Lamey, who has tested the Yamaha motors
extensively.

Dynos are only good if you are developing motors or parts that you plan to
sell, and even then, can be very hard to fully understand without 10 years
of experence using a dyno.

IMO, dynos are a pain in the *** and I'm glad I do not own one. This is
something you learn from being around dynos for awhile.

But, they sure look like a good idea on paper Smile

Dyno`s are great as long as you can take what they show you,you can`t wear ross colored glasses in the dyno room.
