I have talk to several tunners who have confirmed additional performance
gain by introducing warm/hot water to the GPR triple pipes instead of the
cold water from the supplied water manifold. Factory Pipe has implemented
this on their Ultra/STXR triple pipe water routing configuration. This could
be easily accomplished by using a single source of water supply from the
pump, plugging 3 of the water outlets on the supplied water manifold that
send cold water to the pipes and routing the warm water from the headsto the
pipes.

Here are some pictures and instructions from an STXR

39. Install the three 3/8" x 15" waterlines (item #10, 11, 12) onto the
straight 3/8 fittings on
the top of each cylinder head. Secure all with a #36 hose clamp (item #22).

74. Attach all three waterlines from each cylinder head to the 90 deg brass
fitting on each
pipe using #6 hose clamps (item #22).(Fig. 6)

Merry Christmas

Fercho

Thanks

Hey, thats my engine Wink I was just going to post a question about this topic, I remember seeing a picture of that 3 outlet fitting that Fercho posted a little while back, and I actualy saw it yesterday at Home Depot, I thought about buying it and doing exactly what you just posted but was not too sure how it would work, I think I might try that Wink

This is why r-d came out with dual cooling set up I spoke to glen and I'm getting it shipped Three seprate lines go to the alum ex manifolds you redrill new holes at the top and tap for bigger lines and plug the old ones then tee off the exit on the heads to each pipe for the warm water I hope I explained this well getting the instructions soon and the another tear down to install

Not familiar with this motor but looking at one of the photos, is that the oil injection pump? Is it still functional?
Just curious.

Doug you are correct and that is the functional oil pump... Mario did Fercho end up trying this.. How about you Mark? Did you try it? Unfortunately my motor is still torn apart waiting for my jugs but even still we just got 15" of snow last night so I am not going out anyt time soon.

I can understand the gains in cooler climates but if you are tuned for a solid exhaust temp, then this might put you over the edge in the summer. How easy would it be to adjust this?

No Pat, I don't believe Fercho has done this yet, but I know he is going to.

The R&D set up runs 1ea. 1/2" water line to each exhaust flange - thru the cylinder - out the head with a 3/8" hose to the head pipe. they also run a second 3/8" line from the head as a water exit line. up/side 100/200 rpm gain. down/side pipes run hotter(more hot air too carbs). one more up side - when you pull the pipes all you disconnect is the water line from the head. I thought the jet in the stinger was a way to "tune" the pipes as well?

Interesting concept - maybe I'll use it on my STX-R if I ever go to triple pipes on it.

I would imagine that the hotter the pipe, the faster the exaust gases would flow out of the pipe, creating more horspower. The stinger section where water is injected is for building back pressure in the exaust flow to creat more torque. Am I close?

Anyone could help if I am understanding

So you say that using dual cooling (with RIVA pump strianer) the you block 3 outlets from the triples manifold and feed the pipes from the water outlets of the head ????

Am i right ??? and what are the gians ???

Thanks

Actually R&D has a triple cooling setup and if I understand this correctly, you use the triples individually each feeding a cylinder and then in turn the pipes . You can also do this by using the triple pressure balancing manifold offered by Rius (which Fernando found think available at Home Depot for a 10th of the price) without resorting to the triple cooling setup, but you probably have better water volume using the triple setup.

Just got home from Christmas. I will use the triple cooling for the motor, if nothing else.

It will be interesting to see if the imfamous "heat soak" after first run issue goes away.

Oh yeah.
Did I mention, how happy I am to have to go and rip out those front pipes, and those heavy duty springs to install the hoses....???
