I got a nice little gouge in the hull of the GPR.
It's a small area but I need to fill it in.

What are you guys using to do this with?

I used epoxy on my GP1200 to true the hull. You need to make sure you only put as much epoxy on as you need or just a touch more. Its a b!tch to sand. Your better off to apply it a couple times than to try to do it all at once. The epoxy needs to be a nonsag epoxy.

The epoxy I used was 3M DP420 NS White

It worked good for me. I'm sure others will have other suggestions. I'm interested in other materials as well

I haven't put anything over the epoxy yet. It seems ok, but my ski is only in the water when I ride. I take it out at night if I'm camping at the river.

I checked on the Marine tex. It claims its as easy to sand as wood. Is that true?

Epoxy loaded with silica (the epoxy I used) as a thickening agent (nonsag) is hard to sand.

I wonder what marine tex uses as a filler.

Like the others said, Marine-Tex. I used it to fix a crack in the hull of my ski (go figure) and it wa easy to use and seems as hard as steel. \

I sanded it with ease to smooth it out after it set. Under 8.00 bucks for a small repair kit and well worth it!

marine tex...got it!

I ain't really worried about what it looks like, it's on the very bottom after all, I just needed to know what would "stick" for a good repair.

JetEd73, I believe I got my gouges from the same wall you did at the Jamboree.

However, Marine Tex fixed that right up; Thanx for the advise guys! Not sure what sandpaper you guys used, but I used 300 for sanding down the excess epoxy, and 600 with a little water to smooth out the area before polishing.
