Post your top speed, fuel level, rider weight, mods if any and what you used to determine it please.

Bone stock - Testing done with about 8 or 9 hrs on motor.
64.5 (full tank best was 62.5) 2 bars 230 lbs Air Temp: ~80-85 Garmin GPS III+ Added @ ~10 hrs: - 13/19 Impros Speed Cut - Pump plug kit - Riva 2 bar grate - 1200 nzl - 4 to 3 bars - 65.8 ** A couple of key differences between my numbers and what Carl has been posting. 1 - is the Riva 2 bar grate vs stock 1200 or 800 grate. 2 - air temp. Its a good 20-40 degrees warmer here in FL. Cooler air = more HP. ....Patiently waiting for Rivas 13/20 SB & ride plate. The parts are "stuck in customs". Will post once tested. |

Quoted: I CUT SOLAS FROM ISLAND RACING thanks bro i am very interested in your boat set-up since we are both riding in the same type of weather conditions (85 deg) and high humidity (in fact we have this same weather conditions all year long here in my country)with this in mind i have a couple more questions for you if you care to answer them thanks, Ray
1)Do you care to elaborate a little more on your prop?? exact pich please?? 2)Can you tell us what was your boat peak rpms when you reach your best 72.8 mph top end speed?? i only whant to know if your peak rpms were above the 7000 range because "anything below this number spell DANGER!!!! 3)I know that you gain a lot of top end speed after you changed your stock 4 blade prop for the solas I cut prop but how do you compare your boat acceleration and midrange power after the prop swap?? i am asking this question because i saw a few days back a board member complaining about the huge loss in acceleration and midrange that he suffer on his new 1300R boat after he swap his stock prop for a out of the box solas 14/20 since this prop (the custom I cut) give birth from this same platform i would like to know if you agree or desagree with him about this by the way the other guy was so desappointed with this prop that he ordered a new smaller 13/19 set back to replace this prop, i am also curious about why Riva recommend only this prop on their stage I kit, maybe to much prop for a low comp. engine????hummm who knows.... i know that if you perform all the mods at the same time for example (the nozzle and prop)it is hard to tell but inquiring mind wants to know any way. Sorry for asking all this questions bro but to tell you truth i was thinking that Carl was reaching all this incredible top end speeds with this new boat "not because he was cheating it seems a very honest guy to me" just because the cold weather (45 deg) on his riding area in New York was playing a BIG ROLL (maybe 3 to 4 mph more top end speed that in our "heat soak" weather. After spendin a little fortune on engine mods to my boat for example cylinder porting, high comp.heads, aftermarkets 46mm carbs, aftermarket ignitions with custom curves (advent), high flow F/A, free-flow exhaust, aftermarket ride plate, custom props, custom D-plates etc.... and tuned to the max with a tiny tach, my 01 Gpr stage II boat refuse to run above the 70 Mph barrier no matter what on my garming gps so because this it was very hard for me to beleive all this incredible top end speed with just a few bolt on parts and a lot less $$$$$$ and to make this even worst all WITH OUT TOUCHING THE ENGINE but now that i see this numbers on hot weather I AM A BELEIVER!!!! can anyone out there find to hard to beleive if i say that i am goin to sell my 01 Gpr and buy one of this new MONSTERS!!! I BET NOT!!!!![ 05-30-2003, 10:58 PM: Message edited by: Gprracer ] |

Ray,
These speeds were reach with the stock ride plate. I still am waiting for Riva to release the r&d plate, Mark said I should have it sometime next week. As for Carls plate, he knows his sh#t, but in talking with him I think this plate will cause the boat to porpoise too bad for our riding conditions. The prop is a 12.5/18.5 cut and rpms are 7180-7190, bottom and midrange are awesome, but don`t know if it is the prop or combination of head, power core and ecu control. It pulls alot harder than my Ultra and will flat out out pull it all the way through.I think alot of the bottom end was acieved but having the stator and the pump shoe blueprinted along with sealing the pump. The only thing that has not been installed from the stage II kit is the plate and freeflow exhaust kit. I think Riva got there stuff together on this kit and I`m very happy with the results thus far. Hopefully the plate will pick it up a tad bid more. I`ll let you know when it arrives and I get it on.Good luck and safe riding, David |

WHAT????? 72.8 MPH with the stock plate??? in hot weather
OH MY LORD!!!! Sorry i miss to read your signature (stage II minus plate and freeflow) my bad. David you have a bad to the bone boat out there CONGRATS!!!! Your peak rpms are right on the money where they belongs AUSTIN and DMD are you guys reading this???? Man i teel you this, there is another honest 1 to 1.5 mph waiting for you when you receive the Riva/R&D plate and if you perform the "speed job" (remove the skegs from the bottom of the plate) there is another "almost for free" extra mph there!!! i perform this test last year on my stage II boat and gain a complete 1 Mph on my garmin gps after this mod,(david do a search on my board number #971) you will find all the details about this last year test there) i pay only $25.00 bucks to my local machine shop for this job it is very easy to do "now you know where the "almost for free" words come from"??? Please my friend post your findings as soon you install the freeflow and Ride plate ok? I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER!!!! OH MY GOD A 74 MPH PLUS BOAT with the stock oem single pipe in HOT WEATHER running pump gas with tons of bottom end and midrange power IS FOR REAL GENTELMANS!!!! yeeepeeee!!!! this boat is a clear example[ 05-09-2003, 10:27 PM: Message edited by: Gprracer ] |

Thanks for the info all. Keep it coming. Tomorrow I hope to test and IR 14/20 depitched to a 12/18 and a 800 grate. Sealed the pump also.
Ray, Your boats are slower because your closer to the equator and the earths magnetic pull is stronger there. ![]() |

Quoted from dchat: IT PULLS A LOT HARDER THAN MY ULTRA AND WILL FLAT OUT PULL IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH
When this words come from the mouth of a 99' ultra owner with a top speed of 71.2 mph you got to beleive him, CAN WE SAY THE END OF A ERA FOR THE ULTRA????? welcome to year 03 gentelmans here comes the KING here comes the KING of the grudge racing world!!!!! ![]() |

Austin why do you wait so long to tell me this why??? ... Quoted from Austin: Tomorrow i hope to test and IR 14/20 depiched to a 12/18 and 800 grate. Sealed the pump already. You are a bad son of a gun bro!!! hehehe i knew that you was not goin to stay with your arms crossed for a very long time i bet that you want to give a (run for his money) to your triple piped neighbor Benny don't you??? ha... take care, Ray |

Ray, sorry to disappoint. Temp here today 93 deg. Only would run 70.9/4 bars
. Still awaiting ride plate and freeflow. Hope you had a good ride today. SEE YA. David |
||||
|
David, 71 mph on 93 deg weather is still a excellent top end speed for a single piper boat so take it easy bro, i bet you will be very close to the 73 mph barrier as soon you install the aftermarket Riva/R&D ride plate so be positive ok?
Another thing bro, please don't try to install this ride plate and free flow exhaust at the same time ok? just taking notes about the exact performance of each one, thanks Ray |
