Has anyone installed the Riva Big Bore Kit on the GPR? Was it worth it?

Personal Watercraft July 2002 did a review of the Riva Big Bore - unfortunately they used a GP800R grate so while the top speed numbers were good the acceleration numbers were terrible - so the article didn't show the big bores true potential

the single big bore was rated at about 190 hp and topped out at 71.3 mph and the triple version was 220 hp and it topped out at 79.87

Thanks... Are those numbers from the article using the GP800R intake?

My friend has the single pipe BB motor and so far it has been a handful. This is not due to Riva however. His problems stem from the guy he paid to put it all together. We're in the process of trying to work out all the issues but at this stage of the game there is much to do. The potential is there it's just been severly undermined...

To answer your question...even though the install and corresponding work was pitiful the ski has cruised along smoothly (albeit not impressively) this entire past summer = over 100 hours with his riding style. I think the ski has around 175 hours on it now.

dan lamay big bore assembled by island racing, 10 hours strong, 75+mph single pipe...could i ask for anything more?? no signs of any motor problems...but then again, im not abusive except when testing. fyi: abuse to me is 1-2 foot chop with the throttle pinned. you ride like that u better have a big wallet and plan to re-build often no matter what you ride. unless your a lucky one..... big bore is the only way to go....ill talk @ the end of the summer if my thoughts should change.

I couldn't agree more Hop.
When I said something about this last year, some forum members disagreed.

I remember a forum member saying they hold it WOT for 10 miles and it is no problem for the gpr.

To most engine builders holding any motor WOT for extensive periods (10 miles) IS ABUSE.

Hey Roland.... get ready for some big #'s on the freshwater lake [Big Grin]
My guess is add 1 mph at least to "whatever" your mph is in salt.
