the past two times i went out my gpr is only hitting 47 mph@6,000 rpm.i have no top end whats so ever.so i pulled the seat off and took it for a ride today.i noticed that my power valves weren't opening up,so i believe thats why i'm only hitting 47mph and rpm's are peaking at 6,000 .what do you think would cause this?i'm thinking that mabyee one of my valves are sticking or mabyee thier just all dirty and need to be cleaned.i checked the electric connection comming off the servo motor and it's clean.when i shut the ski off the power valves do reset them self.i have a 01 gp12000r with 48.6 hours. list of mods include.
pump plug kit
top loader intake grate
riva ride plate
free flow exaust
solas 13/19 with washer
pro seris sponsons

You need to get above 6250 rpm in order for the CDI to signal the servo to open the valves

Even with the valves closed I think you still should get to 6400 / 6500 rpm

So I think your problem is

"Why am I not getting above 6000 rpm"

and you may not have a PV problem.

i thought it might be the free flow screwing with my rpm's.i heard that a stock motor (like mine)
isn't good for the free flow kit.do you guys think that i should try to switch back to the stock muffler setup and try that?my high and low speed adjustments are also still factory set.i'm wondering, by not adjusting theese is mabyee also part of my problem.

you cat-con may have failed and is restricting the exhaust limiting the rpm's. Thus your not even reaching the rpm for the valves to open.

You did not say if you have the stock cat-con in or not?

i do have the stock cat-con in.i asume that i have to pull the exaust apart to find out?and would it be worth to replace it with a d-plate?

if your machine is still under warranty and you don't have any engine mods, let your dealer check it for you (if they are competent). You might want to swith that free flow out of there before bringing it to your dealer. Yamaha will baulk at that mod and may try to get out of any warranty coverage.

My opinion is to get the cat-con replaced under warranty and leave it until your warranty is expired. Just make sure you have plenty of warm up time before hammering the throttle to WOT. I mean at least 15 minutes of easy idling or low rpm running..under 4k to heat the cat up before WOT.
