I took my ski out today after putting in the d-pate and i ran really bad. It did not sound the same as normal. When i give it all the gas it can only get to 5800 rpm's. Should i pull the pipe again and double check everything or do you think i have another problem?? It does not seem like the d-plate would have anything to do with it.
Any smoke in the bilge after the ride? Sounds like you have a little leak somewhere, how about additional water, maybe you diddn't re-attach one of the pissers. If that's all OK you might want to inspect your valves and make sure they are all opening fully, maybe do a run with them tied open to see if you find your missing rpm on top.

There might of been some smoke from the bilge but not too sure. I was pretty frustrated after the first run. I will re-check all of the hoses. Do you think that that could effect rpms that much though.
I am also not sure how to check the powervalves and run them open. Can u fill me in or tell me a thread I could go too.
I pulled my middle spark plug and it is totally *****. The the plug is broken and the metal is all up inside plug. WHAT CAUSED THIS THE PV. How much is this going to cost to be replaced???
Yea I put the chip in. This is a little bit bigger problem than the chip. I just talked to my dealer and he thinks it may be worse than the PV. He was really cool about it and is trying to see if yamaha will cover it. Any other responses would be great.
Sounds like your crank and crank bearings gave out, Mine did the same thing it breaks and comes up the middle cylinder. Good luck because yamaha wants to see the parts to approve warranty if there is any. Mine broke at 35hrs still waiting for approval from yamaha its been three weeks waiting for the dealer to pull the motor, He just sent the crank to the yamaha techs in wisconsin for approval. So maybe i'll hear something this week. the dealer told me that they will rebuild my motor not yamaha, yamaha will only replace broken parts its up to the dealer to rebuild the motor, I was hopeing for a shortblock it would save alot of time ,and i'm sure the dealer will not pressure test my motor before putting it back in the hull. Good luck with yours.

Hey Rick I think you are right it is the crank. That spark plug was really screwed up. I hope I do not have to go through all of the BS you are going through now.

Sorry to hear Tristen. I just got back in town and got your message. Have you pulled the cover off your center PV to see if its still there? What dealer are you taking it to? I hope they get you back on the water this summer.

I have not yet pulled the cover of the PV's yet. I am pretty sure it was from the crank or crank bearing. I am leaving to go to Surdyke yamaha in Osage Beach tomorrow at 6:30am. I will fill you in on the damage and what has to be done.

1st step for you or your dealer would be to remove the head to find out what it is hiding..
