Why wouldnt you say you have a 20 psi boosted 426? Go to any drag race and you wil see several supercharged Hemi's. Just playing the devils advocate.

plinks, street racing (the illegal thing) and 462 not 426 (BBC 454 30 over) and it had a ati blower that could not be seen...only heard. NO 8-71 heater sticking out of my hood. stealth rules....ahhh, sleeper?

this is my last statement on this one and it is not directed to anyone in particular, maybe only the new guys reading through these posts....so they dont get discouraged.....

Just for the record, stock GPRs run in the 63 to 64 area.

why would we all believe what carl says is totally off the wall? my boat did in the 68 area with no motor mods at all, an out of the box 13/19, riva plate and grate and no carb work besides pulkling out the screen in the air box. I must also admit, i had very limited knowledge on "pump mods" and how to play with all the little things underneath the boat that make differences at different speeds. My forte' is engine building and tuning not hull design and water flow under it.

Also, i was able to get my boat to the mid 71 (absolute best)mark with some tweaking here and there and adding a 14/20 and a 41cc head....(tweaking from knowledge I gained on this forum from some experienced members, u know who u are, and thanks)yes the rpms were low but it did it. if i pulled the head off and went back to oem compression it would probably run just about the 70 mark.

My point is...carl has said time and time again that his boat ran high 72 on low fuel and proper body position...is it that hard to believe that someone with tons of experience in trying different setups (custom and "off the shelf" parts) cant obtain 2+ mph over the next guy that only tries "off the shelf" parts??? i strongly believe not.

Considering I had my boat running where it was with almost NO experience in hull prep (besides bolting different ride plates, intake grates and trim tabs on), i can not sit here and not believe, coming from someone with carls experience, what numbers I have been reading about. Especially when someone is willing to try there own designs to succeed.

Everyone, including myself, wants the easy way out. Just tell me how you did that? Although I would love to believe it was that easy all of the time. The simple fact is.....its not.

I have tried making some parts in the past months (from hints left on this forum) some did not work others have. Will I divulge what I have done to everyone on this forum? Not a chance, maybe to some friends, but that’s about it. Why would I tell someone the way to out run me? It is all about who is the fastest anyway isn’t it? How much have I picked up from my “home made parts? One solid mph with no other changes. Not bad for only following through on some hints on this forum. You who left the hints, my thanks go out to you. It may not be exactly what you have, but it is better then before. That’s all I wanted.

Everything is on this forum to make your boat go fast or very fast. Search the forum, read and try....some stuff works....others...do not. Do not get discouraged it will pay off.

Again, this was not directed to anyone in particular.......maybe just the new guy reading this crap.....

thats the last youll here from me on this one....

earth to Dana, Helooo, is that really you?

I can gladly say that was a very good post and I agree with you very much.

However your news of renewed back problems are distressing and all I can do is hope for you that things are not serious and you can enjoy a full season of riding and more. Hope your recovery is swift and complete.

All very interesting. No doubt there is speed under the boat and in the pump. From prior posts:

1. Speed with cutting the hull keel back a bit - while Yamaha was developing the hull they had one GPR going 68 mph, but they added some keel, which they felt stabilized it, but lost up to 4 mph.

2. Correctly feeding the pump at speed. Reduce the bubbles in the water, direct the water better, don't over or underfeed the pump.

3. Match the prop to the exit nozzle diameter and the steering nozzle diameter for the best rpm for speed.

4. Play with combinations of, and mods to, tabs and ride plates. The right length and angle are worth speed on both it seems.

5. Keep a good impeller seal in place and your pump veins cleaned up. They tend to chip, crack and break.

6. Aerate your ride plate - some folks have reported increased speed by removing the big pump seal piece. Grinding your ride plate a bit so the angle is optimal helps, but working a bit at the front of it may help if it works to pull air from above the ride plate and aerate the ride plate - less drag.

7. Angle of the exit nozzle. Possibly more angle may increase speed, although too much will cause porpoise.

8. Internal pump mods - who knows on this one?

Just some prior ideas that have never really been fully reported on in the forum, due to time, guts, fear, etc. Gotta give Carl credit for spending the time to find out what does and does not work. Many of us either don't have the time, the ability or the guts to try all these things ...

I have not tried many of these things. My season is very short, I have many other interests, and nobody has come close to beating my GPR even though it only runs 69 mph right now. But, I am always interested in new ideas ...

My sleeper was (sold it last fall) 89 Chrysler Conquest. RWD Independent rear suspension. 8 way adjustable Tokico shocks (stock) 2.6L with 20G1A (Mitsubishi) turbo upgrade, custom ground cam, 3" exhaust, ARP hardware, 8 lb flywheel, Turbo XS BOV, all custom intake pipes, 2 extra injectors (for high boost), 8.1 forged pistons, and balance shafts removed. 12.6 in the 1/4 mile with 22psi boost. Fun little car that never seemed to ru out of stuff it needed. Insulted many-a-Honda-Nissan-Ford-and-Chevy.

Like I said I am totaly new to 2 stroke motors. I've cranked the wrenches a lot on my cars but these are new to me. Lots to learn.
